Alabama needs a contested three-pointer at the buzzer to beat S. Dakota.

Redshirt freshman Ron Baker from little Scott City, Kansas dropped in 17 points on the very athletic Eagles. That is one of the highest freshman-debut scoring performances in Shocker history.

The Shox looked like I thought they would for an early season game. Struggled a little shooting the ball and had some silly mistakes. They looked like an inexperienced team last night. Granted it didn't help that coach was still playing with crazy line-ups...etc. So it probably looked worse than it should have. He is still trying to build depth and get people as much playing time as he can when he has big leads. Once we had that 24pt lead he started teaching more than anything.

Going to be some bumps in the road for this team as they figure things out. Luckily they have some time before Valley play to grow and learn. The game against VCU is probably going to be ugly and many on this board will probably poke fun and say how WSU looks like a play-in team. I am ready for those comments. Just know that can and probably will come to bite everyone in the ass. I never felt this team or schedule was one built for an at-large bid. So in my opinion as long as they get better every day that is the important thing. There is time to get it together, and if it comes together like I think it will...look out.

Good luck to everyone during the non-conference season.

Playing middle of the pack MEAC teams and, for my Jays, Presbyterian Blue Hose and Longwood Schlongs or whatever they are (part of the LV tourney) teaches very little and is a major "what's wrong" with college basketball even though there is a lot of what's right with the game.

UN-Omaha dropped their successful D2 football and wrestling programs to become a D1 basketball school with the stated goal by their administration that they would make budget each year getting bought by top basketball programs. WTF?!?!?! That's a business plan?!?!?!

That said, coaches like getting their feet wet with a patsy so I don't see this stopping. Thus, you get sloppy games with lots of player combinations.
