That was a great article! I'm really looking forward to the BJ's leading the conference (and eventually the nation) in attendance when Omaha starts charging for the tickets and turns off the "steroids".

HMMM.. charging for tickets? Yes they give promos away like anybody else but I think there are plenty of people who will show you the dough they shelled out for tickets to games at the new park.

I was talking to a Shocker fan today at The Trade and I asked what the attendance was like in Wichita, and he replied that its down this year, but nobody knows the real numbers because attendance is listed as season tickets sold plus the walk up gate, is this true?

It probably is true. This is the worst Shocker team in the past 25 years, what would you expect? It's a damn shame that they have fallen so far that they are no longer a player in the MVC title chase, regular season or conference tournament. Imagine the attendance numbers for your team if they were buried in the misery of their worst season in 25 years. The Shockers haven't even reached 40 wins yet this year. How absurdly embarrassing is that?

Seems to be the theme in college baseball overall.

Too bad they couldn't "standardize" the attendance numbers to turnstile only so as to get an actual count to who is sitting in the seats.

I think the idea is to get people in the park and show off the product, then build a fan base.

Much like was done for basketball when the Qwest Center opened.

So there are no more ticket giveaway promos for Creighton basketball?

I'm sure all the accounting and finance professors cring when they see the P&L for both programs when you start paying big $$$ in rent for a new facility and you give away your product instead of capturing revenue from the excitement of the newness.

I don't think so, I may be wrong on that though.

I know my 4 season tickets have tripled in cost from 8 years ago.
