Quite a game. 1-1 heading to the bottom of the ninth.

Absolutely gutty Carolina defense to send it to extras.

The Gamecocks seem to be destined at this point.

Game started really slow but it turned out to be one heck of a game. Crowd really got into it late. I was pulling for USC to win last night but will probably pull for UF tonight to force a game 3.

It's surprising that Florida has never won it before. I'll be pulling for the Gators.

All of the three major Florida schools have underachieved in terms of CWS titles. Martin has never won one at FSU and probably the most remembered moment in the history of college baseball was Warren Morris's HR with two outs in the ninth to put Lousiana State over Miami.

I really find the game boring this year though. Tuned in to watch some of these CWS games but they are all so low scoring and going 12-13 innings because no one can get the big hit. I thought USC East made some nice defensive plays last night though, so I'll hand it to them. But the overall quality of college baseball as compared with 10 years ago is not very good.

If you call "quality", winning games 21-14, and watching 2nd basemen jacking home runs off the end of the bat.

Of course the offensive production has gone down. That's a given. I also think this year's teams had extremely good pitching and excellent defense which robbed those "big hits".

You can argue it's more boring now with less run scoring, but to say the "quality" is down simply because the games are low scoring is a short-sighted observation.

That is just an incorrect statement. College baseball is now more pure baseball like it was meant to be with the new bats. Like baseball is suppose to be played. People think that since the teams are not putting up football like scores it has dropped in quality when actually the reverse is true.

College baseball is better and the ascent of many college players quickly to the majors proves that.
