Look pal it ain't our fault that there isn't anything else to do in Wichita. We have admirable support when you consider we have a AA baseball team in town and there are plentiful activities for outdoor adventure in the Ozarks. Wichita doesn't have either. I'd love to have 5,000 a game but I understand because we have other things to do outside of watching basbeall.

If you have better things to do than have it in Omaha or Wichita...

Hey guys don't get your panties in a bunch.

I find it amazing that you drew as many as you did, a little over 900 per game to watch NCAA caliber tournament team SWOMO is admirable, considering everything there is to do in Springfield.

I thought that four or five hundred would be tops since that is what the average home attendance this year was.

I knew we'd hear about this...frankly, no excuse for it. Wichita supports the tournament better, you'll get no argument here.

Obviously Omaha, Wichita and Springfield are the choices to host on a rotating basis.

Omaha is the best facility, Springfield the second and Wichita third.

When you go past that the interest and fan base for college baseball does not justify any other locations.

I do temper that knowing that the fanbase in Wichita is getting smaller and smaller each year as Gene continues to put subpar teams on the field. This was the worst Shocker baseball team that I have ever seen, no hitting, little pitching and next year will not be much better.

Here's info on attendance for the MVC tournament over the last 4 years. Keep in mind there are a lot of holes in the attendance numbers for the tournament this year, so I also included numbers per game.

2012 Attendance Numbers
Code: Select all
Game   Teams     Attend.
      TUESDAY
1    UE v ISUr  ----
2    CU v ISUb   303
3    SIU v WSU  ----
4    BU v MSU   1390 *MSU evening game (1000 free tickets given out)

     WEDNESDAY
5    ISUb v UE  ----
6    MSU v WSU  ----
7    ISUr v CU  ----
8    BU v SIU    465

     THRUSDAY
9    ISUr v UE  ----
10   MSU v BU    708
11   CU v ISUr  ----
12   SIU v MSU   872 *MSU evening game

2012: @MSU (off campus)
(These numbers are skewed high because lower attended games have no official number)
Total Attendance = ?????
Average Attendance = 747
MSU Avg Attendance = 990

2011: @CU (off campus; opening of new park)
Total Attendance = 37,607
Average Attendance = 2,507
CU Avg Attendance = 3,163

2010: @WSU (on campus)
Total Attendance = 41,427
Average Attend. = 3,187
WSU Avg Attend = 3,963

2009: @WSU (on campus)
Total Attendance = 33,783
Average Attend = 3,378
WSU Avg Attend = 4,203

Championship game tonight is on Fox Sports Midwest at 7pm. It sounds like both teams will start their aces, so hopefully it will be a good game.

First of all, the world has completely turned upside down when WSU fans are rooting for Creighton, especially in baseball.

Second, next year's numbers won't even come close to 2010 or 2011 figures considering the park only has a capacity of 1,500. The fact that schools even voted for a locale which has a capacity of only 1500 is the real travesty though. Anything to keep it away from the western schools, I guess.

I caught the game as Fox was going to a commercial. As they flashed a camera at the "crowd", I counted 37 people in the stands. Impressive.
Random MVCFans.com member, circa 2007: "Gregg Marshall is in over his head in this conference."
