Those ratings are very interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Who wants to bet none of the voters use any similar stats in picking the POY, 1st team and 2nd team players?

It's tough though. You almost have to use Valley-only numbers at the end of the season when looking at advanced stats because the competition has to be similar to make any sense of them.

It's easy to be efficient offensively and defensively when you play a schedule full of cupcakes.

I'm not sure these are as well adjusted for competition as kenPom. I filtered for players that have played more than 100 minutes. I think everyone in the Top 20 after that has played at least 200 minutes except Ndiaye. I don't know what this says about POY, but I think it very clearly shows the runaway tandem for FOY.

ORtg Top 20

Austin Reaves 132.9
Landry Shamet 129.2
Aundre Jackson 124.2
Markis McDuffie 124.1
Luke McDonnell 122.8
Rauno Nurger 122.4
Conner Frankamp 122
Donte Ingram 121.6
Obediah Church 121.5
Armon Fletcher 120.6
Ronnie Rousseau 119.6
Nate Kennell 119.5
Ryan Kreklow 118.4
Austin Ruder 117.2
Jordan Ashton 117.1
Shaquille Morris 117
Zach Brown 117
Alize Johnson 116.5
Deontae Hawkins 116.2
Daishon Smith 115.8

DRtg Top 20

Darral Willis Jr. 88.5
Daishon Smith 88.6
Shaquille Morris 88.9
Paris Lee 90.1
Deontae Hawkins 90.2
Austin Reaves 90.5
Daouda Ndiaye 90.6
MiKyle McIntosh 91.2
Markis McDuffie 91.4
Phil Fayne 91.4
Rashard Kelly 91.5
Jeremy Morgan 92.4
Madison Williams 92.8
Zach Brown 93.4
Alize Johnson 94.6
Rauno Nurger 94.8
Tony Wills 95.2
Obediah Church 95.3
Willie Wiley 95.6
DJ Clayton 95.7

Edit: Little surprised by some of the WSU names at the top of the DRtg list.

I have issues with the defensive ratings. Morris, Smith, and Willis aren't even in the top 3 of WSUs defensive players.

Probably has something to do with Smith leading the team in steals and Shaq in blocks. Willis is a close second in blocks.

Hey, MVC fans! Long time listener, first time caller.
@Catch_N_Shoot on Twitter noticed Milton Doyle recently made a jump in KenPoms MVC POY rankings. I don't see his name mentioned that often in this feed, and am curious what you think of these rankings.
KenPom rankings are as follows:
1. Milton Doyle
2. MiKyle McIntosh
3. Deontae Hawkins
4. Darral Willis
5. Markis McDuffie

Willis has dropped as he has put together several bad games in a row. Shamet would be the hot name as McDuffie's second in Wichita.

You don't have Paris Lee in your top 5, so your rankings lose some credibility.

Doyle is behind Johnson of MSU statistically it it will require something less than a 4 game deficit to the first place team for him to make up that kind of ground on the fifth slot, though it wouldn't surprise me if he bumped Hawkins and Shamet.

Right on the stats, but then why have voters?

Loyola is 4 games back on the league leaders and got literally blown out of their own gym against said league leaders. KenPom tells part of the story. So, does standings and head to head against his biggest competition.

What was FVV's KenPom ranking last year when he won POY?
