Just doing some quick research i have eliminated it down to....

Indiana St.
Creighton
UNI
BU
WSU

There should only be 4, but looking at the schedules it gets a little confusing as I am sure one of the teams had a game scheduled outside of the challenge before it happened (probably a return or something). Each of these teams have played a MWC team the last 3 years. Since UNI and supposedly Indiana St. already have games scheduled for next year, that leaves Creighton, BU and WSU as potential teams that could sit out and depending on the MWC situation next year, it could potentially be all 3.

Not sure how we could leave out WSU and Creighton when they are on an uptick.

SIU and ISU sat out this year. MWC only has 8 teams this year.

TCU is out for sure right?

Boise St. and SDSU aren't scheduled to move their sports until 2013-14.

That should actually leave 9 teams in the challenge for next year right?

UNLV, New Mexico, Colorado St., Wyoming, SDSU, Airforce, Boise St., Nevada and Fresno St.
-Boise is new this year to the MWC and Nevada and Fresno will be members next year? This means only 1 valley team will sit out.....sorry Bradley.

Boise State is coming to Creighton next year so it's not them.

so....

UNI @ UNLV
New Mexico @ Indiana St.
Boise St. @ Creighton

Assuming we go home/road every other year. Next year should be...

Colorado St. (home)
Airforce (home)
SDSU (road)
Wyoming (road)
Nevada (?)
Fresno St. (?...ISUr went there unnofficially this year)

ISU (home)
Missouri St. (home)
Bradley (home)
WSU (road)
Evansville (road)
Drake (road)
SIU (?...was home team in 10-11)

not every team has gone home/road every other year, Indiana State will have gone home-road-road-home for the 4 years. We hosted CSU (win), then had the debacle at Wyoming, then lost at Boise St. this year.

I would suspect that Drake could possibly sit out next season? But that's just a guess

My guess is that Bradley sits out next year.

My guess for the rest...

WSU @ CSU
Evansville @ Airforce
Drake @ Nevada
ISU vs. SDSU
Missouri St. vs. Wyoming
SIU vs. Fresno St.

I suppose ISUr could switch with Missouri St. and take Wyoming at home, but we will be a senior laden team next year and Missouri st. will be without weems. I know they like to keep the matchups somewhat even.

Evansville played at Air Force in 2010, so I wouldn't expect that to happen a second time.

Don't believe there is a rule against that. Just that you won't play the same team in consecutive years. Besides, the mountain west also wasn't expecting to lose Utah and TCU when this was started up either.

From what I was told last year, the MVC/MWC Challenge was a four year deal, but actually split up in to two, 2 year chunks where everything reset after the first two years. So for each 2-year chunk teams would not have consecutive games at home. Then in year three everything reset. So that is why a team like San Diego State was able to play on the road in year one, at home in year two, at home in year three and will be on the road in year four.

So it is possible that Evansville and Air Force could play each other again since it is part of the new 2-year series.

Also from what Doug Elgin told me earlier this year, it appears this series likely won't be renewed and that they are looking at other challenge series with multiple conferences.

The MVC/MWC Challenge will still be in place for next season finishing their four year series agreement, but according to Elgin, look for the MVC to look for a different challenge series in the future. Those could involve challenge series with as many as three or four different conferences. More discussion will take place on this topic this winter.

wow. challenges with 3 or 4 different conferences? One of them not being the MWC. This should make scheduling simple for everyone, but what other conferences would be worthy of a challenge? Any BCS conference is obviously worth it, but I can't imagine we would get something like that. I hope it wouldn't be anything outside of the A10, CUSA, Horizon, WCC, MAC and CAA because anything outside of that generally would not be good and there is already a name for it......bracketbusters.
