Valley goes 5-1 (thanks SIU!) which is what was expected.

What the hell SIU? Didn't Lowery spend a lot of time during media days saying how much more scrappy this year's team would be, and that everyone was buying in? Back to Floorburn U?

The season is still young, but geez talk about some horrible losses...

I think Lowrey has an advanced degree from Peggy's School for Inspiring Confidence.

Re-posted from another thread:

In most cases, I could care less if a valley team tanks. Of course I wish all to do well in non-conference, but only because it helps the jays. However, I truly feel bad for siu. I thought we had it bad going from Barone to Johnson, but clo makes Johnson look like like a stud. The jays need siu to be good for the sake of a good rivalry. I miss our old friend.

And yes wsu, I'm glad you are back for the same reason. Try to stick around for a few years.

Bradley pulled away late to defeat North Dakota 78-69.

Taylor Brown continues his strong comeback with a solid 26 pts., 14 boards, and 4 assists. He looked really smooth tonight. The tandem of Prosser & Brown have been great so far.
Dyricus really struggled in this one, which is a big reason why the game was so close for most of the game. But he caught fire late, hit 2 big 3-balls.

Geno Ford now 3-0! The vibe is good for BU basketball so far, but we are cautiously optimistic, awaiting some tough games that will REALLY test us. The competition in the last 2 was actually a lot better than what I thought, especially SEMO, who will likely win quite a few games this year.

Yes, our lack of depth is a factor, but bench guys are still playing roles so far - they don't fill up the stat sheet, but at least they log some minutes, giving the main 5 (Brown, Prosser, Simms-Edwards, Lemon Jr., and Eastman) a breather. There is definitely talent there in the 3 freshmen that are seeing the floor, but this year we won't expect a lot of production from them.

Valley continues to show well. SIU on the other hand is easily a bottom 300 team.
Thoughts and prayers to WSU finding a new conference.

Was at the Bears game last night. It was our home opener. Emporia State which is a D2 school. We didn't look nearly as good as we did in our 1st 2 road games. We looked out of sorts especially in the 1st half. Especially considering Emporia's D2 status. But before the game they had a ceremony unveiling our 2011 championship banner and I think maybe that was distraction and/or our players were too "amped up".

Anyway we did get back on track in the 2nd half and ended up winning by 26. Our newcomers and Caleb Patterson continue to impress me with their high level of play. Patterson didn't score a lot this game but he still played pretty well and was active on defense and aggressive on offense. It's early but based on these first games I think the rest of the Valley will be unpleasantly surprised when they play us.

Some tougher games coming up that will show more about the Bears. Including Tulsa and OK state at home. I think the OK state game is going to be on ESPN. It wasn't originally but due to the NBA lockout it's been moved there.
