UNI vs Northern Colorado

Tip time at 5 PM in the McLeod Center today. UNC made the NCAA tournament last year, but it sounds like they lost a lot of talent from that team, so I don't know exactly what to expect. UNI should be able to win the game if we play well at all. Go CATS.

UNI wins 78-69, despite Northern Colorado shooting 13-20 3pt and 12-12 ft. Just on fire for most of the game.

Moran with 17, Koch 15, Sonnen 12, Mitchell 12, and James 10.

much better offense from UNI, but still way too many 3pt attempts and turnovers.

NOrthern colorado is a bad team but I dont care how bad you are if you make that many 3's you'll be in the game. Good job coming out with the W UNI!

I was pleased to see improvement. I expected it to be a little more lopsided, but UNC was just lights out from 3. They had one guy just making tough shot after tough shot. They have a guy who hadn't made one all season and made 2 in a row that brought them back into the game.

Would like to see more out of Jake Koch. He needs to start driving the ball, and not shooting as many 3s. The defense was good and forced 25 UNC turnovers. There is still improvement but we looked better than we did at St. Mary's.

Might still be a tough season, but I do like what I see.

Good game against a scrappy team. Couldn't shake them as they just kept hitting shot after shot. 65% from 3 and that is with going 2/5 in the last couple of minutes. We had them taking the kind of contested shots we like to force, they were just making them. We made enough of our shots and forced enough turnovers to get the gap we needed and pick up the win. Still taking a lot of 3's, but that is what UNC was forcing with their D as well. Should get another win and take another RPI hit, on Tuesday vs Western Carolina, then off to South Padre for Rice and Providence.

On a side note, Old Dominion, whom UNI beat 63-46 to open the season at their place, lost to #2 Kentucky 62-52 yesterday on a neutral floor. We scored more and gave up fewer points than the #2 team did against them. :Yea!:

Not that that means anything.
