Nice win for the Panthers, first Big East scalp picked up by the cats. Can only take a few things away from this one:

1) Our defense is pretty solid, gave up 230 points in 4 tourney games, 122 in the two in South Padre
2) Our freshman (Mitchell and Tuttle) are playing pretty well right now

3) Providence is going to get owned in the Big East

beyond that, still a ways to go. Nice to be 5-1 coming home to Iowa for the month of December with our in-state BcS games along with Colorado State, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and Ohio (currently a combined 11-4)

Great win UNI, way to take down a Big East team.

Really great tournament for UNI. Freshman are doing really well, and the team has showed some great flashes this year.

I still expect this team to be very up and down this year, but when they are playing "up", they will be tough to beat.

Second straight Thanksgiving week tournament title for UNI, as the Panthers won at Vegas last year.

I hope this makes at least some around the country diminish the value of a .500ish BigEast team that didn't belong on the same floor with a young mid pack Valley team.

The game was never in doubt. Providence is horrible.

How did this tourney work, and how do they win the tourney over Iowa State, or am I missing something?

Because of the fact that UNI and ISU already have each other on the schedule, they were not able to run this in a true tournament format. Instead, the two games that everyone got were set beforehand.

The "champion" was to be the team with the best record, and the tie breaker was points allowed. Since, ISU and UNI both went undefeated, UNI was awarded the "championship" because we gave up less points than ISU. (big surprise..)

Oddly enough though, UNI's next game is at Iowa St on Wed.

Congrats to UNI. Dominating a Big East team from start to finish is always good.

Good Luck against Iowa State. Beating another power 6 conference team would be great!
