MVC v MWC 2010 Challenge Predictions

Who do you see winning this year's challenge, both overall and match ups?

I'm afraid our MVC will only take 3 or 4 or the 9 match ups due to bad pairings and the fact that one of our best wont be playing this year--MSU.
Two of the best match ups are BYU at CU and WSU at SDS, but ISU (Blue) at WU and UNI @ TCU are fairly close matches also, but three of those four good pairings have the MWC with the home court advantage.
Two of the MWC top four teams play on the road to lower level MVC teams with NM at SIU and UNLV at ISU(Red)
If WSU could manage to beat the presumptive MWC champ on the road then the MVC might have a shot at winning the challenge this year.
My current predictions: CU beats BYU barely thanks to home court advantage
CSU beats DU in a close one due to home court advantage
NM beats up SIU
UNLV beats up ISU(red)
ISU(red) steals W from WU
UNI takes a close one from TCU
BU beats Utah
SDS prevails in a tight game due to home court advantage
AF beats EU at the academy

I wouldn't be surprised to see BYU picked to win the conference. Just cause media fell in love with them and Fredette. With that said:

WSU beats SDSU
CU loses to BYU
Drake loses to CSU
SIU loses badly to New Mexico
ISU(red) loses to UNLV
ISU(blue) beats Wyoming
UNI handles TCU pretty easily
Bradley beats Utah
Evansville beats Air Force...why not? Air Force is pretty dang bad also!

With that I say we go 5-4

I'll hold my prediction for the IlSU v UNLV game until the Tre'Von Willis situation is figured out.

Absolutly terrible off season for the Runnin' Rebels:
UNLV seniors have rough offseason: Leading scorer Tre'Von Willis is a question mark for this season after a woman's claim that the guard attacked her led to his arrest and a felony charge filed against him. It's unknown what, if any, disciplinary action might be taken against Willis. Already the Rebels had lost forward Matt Shaw after he tested positive for an NCAA banned substance and was ruled ineligible for his senior season. And Wednesday, it was announced that 3-point specialist Kendall Wallace would miss the season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ACL in his right knee.

Unfortunately, my prediction is that this challenge won't be terribly interesting when Utah and BYU are no longer a part of the MWC.

That depends on who the MWC gets as replacements. Nevada seems likely and they have been a good quality basketball program for several years. Fresno State is a possibility, and they have been somewhat competitive, but definitely would be a drop off.
None-the-less, the MWC is currently ranked higher than the MVC and unless we turn that around it may be the Mountain West not being terribly interested in continuing the challenge. The Valley needs to take up this challenge and prove itself as the 7th basketball championship conference again by proving its a better league than the MWC, and this year is not likely to help make that proof positive.

Fair enough points. I just got around to reading last week's SI and it sounds like the Big East wants to add TCU to help the football side of things. Maybe realignment isn't done quite yet.
