Updated RPIs - December 10. 2011

Postby MVCfans » December 11th, 2011, 10:54 am

Here are the up to date RPI's for Missouri Valley Conference teams as of Sunday morning, December 11 - according to WarrenNolan.com. Records include only games against D1 opponents. The early indication would be that the Valley is positioning itself very well for multiple berths in the NCAA tournament come March.

4. Northern Iowa (9-1)
17. Creighton (7-1)
38. Indiana St (6-2)
39. Wichita St (7-2)
79. Drake (5-3)
81. Missouri St (4-3)
165. Bradley (4-4)
236. Evansville (3-4)
257. Illinois (6-3)
333. Southern Illinois (1-3)

Anyone know how this compares to this time during the 2006-07 season?

I'll be disappointed if UNI doesn't crack the top 25 this week. As for Creighton, they better get prepared for Tulsa and Northwestern.

I do not think that UNI will be ranked, and I am not expecting them to be. I think they definitely have an argument though, so it will be interesting to see what the polls do with them.

Beat Ohio next week to get to 12-1, then they will definitely crack the poll.

UNI is too low in the polls, probably would take about 2 or 3 more weeks of being undefeated in order to get into the polls like 15-1 before getting to Creighton. Unfortunately, the don't have an "name" wins and started out w/no votes in the polls. I don't know how Jacobsen does it year in and year out, he is definitely the best coach in the valley.

Wanna put some money down on that?

I believe that would only get them to 11-1, but without any eye-popping victories, there is no way a team with only 1 vote this week is going to "definitely crack the poll" in two week's time with a win over Ohio.

Win out through the Creighton game and then you will "definitely" have a case.

They did beat a 9-2 Providence team handily that has wins over South Carolina and Boston College. Perhaps if Milwaukee beats Wisky at home this week that will help as well.

Providence is a good team but South Carolina is horrible and Boston College is probably the second worst BCS team in America (behind Utah).

I'd be pretty disappointed if we weren't in the poll at 12-1, with wins @ODU, @Iowa State, Iowa, Milwaukee, Providence, Rice, and Ohio. Thats a really solid non-conf resume.

Like I said, It will be interesting to see how many votes we end up this week. But I'd be surprised if we were not ranked next week if we are able to beat a really good Ohio team. That is certainly worthy of top 25, IMO.
