Jay Bilas has updated his power rankings for his top 68 teams on his ESPN insider page.
I was surprised to see Indiana State didn't make the list.

Why he picks MSU over ISU-blue I don't get, though Missou St. has beaten a couple good teams.
But I don't think they'll be in the discussion a month from now.

No offense to MSU, but this shows he has paid no attention to the Valley.

It will all depend on how the Bears fare on Wednesday and Thursday of this week when they play neutral games against West Virginia and St Mary's and beyond that, of course, how well they do in Valley play.

Kenpom has MSU at 65 too.It also has Indiana State at 93 (counting their win @ #51 Vanderbilt). That is all statistical analysis though, so it doesn't have human input.

I think both teams could be a threat on any given night, but both teams have struggled. Hopefully everyone can finish off non-con with some wins. I would love to see multiple bids for the Valley. I still think 3 is probably all they will allow the Valley to have though.

We sound like a bunch of teenage girls:

"Jay did not notice me. Is it my hair?"

"Jay is looking at Jane MWC and not me, Jane MVC, I am cuter!"

Guys, rankings are an art, not a science. There are about 80-85 teams that anyone can rank the top 64.

The lower you go, the more haphazard the guess.

"Jay, come back and look at me and my MVC girls in about a week, after we kick some BCS axx........"

Disagree AceDad. Indiana State's record and recent win on the road put them head-and-shoulders above MSU. It's a slow basketball week and this is as good a topic as any.

The topic is a good one.

But, we are biased.

There are 6-8 other conferences who believe their 3rd or 4th best team is in the Bilas Top 65 or so.

Anyway, this is all tongue and cheek.

Wouldn't call it head and shoulders, but do agree it puts them slightly higher than us.
