Marshall gets 100th win

Postby iSASO » January 25th, 2012, 10:36 pm

Tonight against the Aces, WSU coach Gregg Marshall got his 100th victory as WSU's coach. He accomplished it in 158 games, a pace only surpassed by Gene Smithson. HOF coach Ralph Miller and Mark Turgeon both required around 167 games to reach the same mark.

I think he has something like 294 total wins for his career also. Hopefully he will hit another milestone within the next...oh...6 games or so ;)

For some perspective, it took 6 seasons and 177 games for Dana Altman to reach the 100 wins mark at Creighton.

True, but Altman's a good coach that doesn't lose close games and doesn't have as much to learn about coaching as Gregg still does. Maybe, perhaps someday, Gregg will learn enough and get smart enough to be considered something other than a middle of the road Valley coach, as he is today.

Yes, but I believe he had more talent to start with. Still, he kept it rolling.

Marshall is solidly in 2nd place for overall career wins with 294, but he is way behind Ralph MIller's 657.

It took Mike Krzyzewski into his seventh season and 187 games to get to 100 wins.

The real question is how many did it take Jim Les?

Edit: 6th season, 185th game for Les. He's better than Coach K!!!!

I remember a Turgeon comment around Jacobsen's second (?) year: "He makes this [coaching] look easy".
