I don't know about firing....

He did get the MWC-MVC challenge put together, which has probably been responsible from providing some of the best non-con games over its existence.....

But these bracketbuster match-ups suck. We need to be done with this rinky-dink deal. Being on TV is not as significant as it once was.

I don't think Elgin should be fired but I think he should listen to the coaches and athletic directors who are opposed to this by a large majority. The question is whether condensing league games right after the holiday so that we can take a Saturday off at the end of league play makes sense. To me it is perfectly clear that it does not help our league and may even hurt should Wichita State lose and end up coughing up an at large.

Doug Elgin resigns April 23rd.

MVC hires a new Commussioner 1 June.

What is your mandate as fans to the new Commissioner?

What is your timeline?

How do you measure your mandate?

What resources will he need?

The easy part is firing the boss. The hard part
is making sure the new guy has the skill-set to accomplish
your goals.

I am ready to fire him. Th BB match ups are unacceptable.

The Valley got totally screwed.

I will agree that the MVC-MWC Challenge is a good thing. And if Elgin were to get the Valley out of the Bracket Busters and replace it with a challenge/event involving the A10, CUSA, MWC, WCC then I would say job well done.

But if we are in the Bracketbusters even one more year, I say FIRE HIM!

I have never met the man. Any examples of his lack of foresight?

There are no examples. He's one of the most progressive thinkers you'll ever meet. The same cannot be said of some other folks who have influence on scheduling.

I think it's time for everyone to take a deep breathe and relax. I so wanted to see St Marys in Omaha, but I understand why ESPN would want to match them up with Murray State. Wichita State has a tough game with apparently little to gain, but with the Murray State-St Marys game selected, Davidson was about as good as they could ask for.

In the end Creighton and Wichita State got two of the best games and they both just need to win them.
There are three rules that I live by, never get less than 12 hours sleep, never gamble with a guy who has the same first name as a city and never get involved with a chick with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Stick to that and everything else is gravy!

These are great questions Ace Dad. You are clearly a solutions oriented person. I would hire Dan Beebe formerly of the Ohio Valley and Big XII. He did a great job of the OVC and gets a lot of negative attention for the Big XII but that thing was a powder keg and he was just in an unfortunate spot. He would also offer a lot of realignment expertise which is crucial in the modern world of college sports. I think he'd come and he's not the type that would just sit in the corner with his head bowed like Elgin is.

Coach Lusk said on his radio show tonight that he liked the BB. He also said the term mid major didn't bother him because you just have to accept what you are. Kind of a weird comment to make. The fans and coaches just see this event differently it seems. Or coach lusk just hasn't coached at this level long enough to realize these games usually hurt more than help.
