Evansville Aces at Bradley Braves (Wed, Feb 1st)

We won two road games I did not expect to win.

We lost two home games that I did not expect to lose.

I wonder if we play "looser" on the road?

PEORIA —

The second time around against Creighton’s Doug McDermott on Saturday, the Bradley men’s basketball team cut the standout forward’s points production from 44 to 24.

Now, it’s time to go to work on Colt Ryan of Evansville, which visits BU at Carver Arena in a Missouri Valley Conference contest Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.

Two weeks ago in Indiana, Ryan went off for a career-high 39 points against the Braves in a 90-67 UE home romp. He is currently leading the Valley in scoring at 23.1 points per game, for league games 1.4 points higher than McDermott.

Can BU put the brakes on the 6-foot-5 junior while, unlike Saturday, turning it into a victory?

Bradley has a chance to win this game. Obviously the key is Colt Ryan. Usually its been inside players who have destroyed Bradley but Ryan was the exception.

For Bradley to win all three of their best players (Brown, Simms-Edwards, and Lemon, Jr.) have to play well and the opponent has to have an off night. I think that perfect storm happens tonight but who the heck knows.

Braves 72, Aces 68

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see Bradley winning this one.

UE is a 3 point favorite. Evansville needs to have 3-4 players other than Ryan to show up and play tonight. UE has multiple weapons to use but usually it's left up to Ryan

I would love to see Colt play 28-30 minutes so he is rested enough to play better defense and our offense learns how to play more without him on the court. I see too many guys watching Colt instead of cutting, screeening, and making themselves available for a pass from Colt. During the ISU game during OT seemed everybody was waiting for Colt to come to the rescue.

Bradley's strength is far and away their guards - Simms-Edwards and Brown are good enough to play on any team in the MVC. Both teams struggle in the post. I think whatever team gets better play out of their post players will win.

If they were going to rest Colt, it should have been last time UE played Bradley after the Aces were up comfortably. I don't think you get much of chance to rest your best player on the road.

Evansville with 6 points off 3 BU turnovers in the first 90 seconds.

This could be good.
