Drake already had 3 players out for the year (counting one who was a senior and was likely to miss the season with injury), and couldn't afford to lose anybody else, especially their best player.

Stick a fork in them, they're done. Simons has mono, which means there's a chance he'll miss the rest of the season.

Yeah. If Simons misses even the next two or three games, Drake could fall to Thursday easily ... without Simons, DU will seriously struggle for offense, as demonstrated tonight.

Bears didn't even need their A game to embarrass the Bulldogs tonight in Des Moines. Pathetic effort once again from the dogs. Ben Simons with mono, coaching staff clueless on running a zone offense and how to defend pick and roll, give & go plays.

lack of effort & hustle was the toughest part of tonight's game.

Losing Simons was tough for Drake. But the Bears were without one of their key players (2nd leading scorer) too.

The Bears have more than two players...NTL, congrats to MSU on their win in Des Moines!

MSU did not look all that good. I think they would have lost to most teams in the Valley playing the way they did tonight. Drake was unbelievably awful. They really need to get a coach.

Here's the difference. Bulldogs were already missing 3 key players for the entire season before losing Simons. It's a lot easier to adjust to missing one of your better players when you're otherwise at full strength. When you're already down 3 players, it's a lot harder to adjust to your best player suddenly being gone.

Apples and oranges.

DUBulldog, I'm sorry to have forgotten, but besides the crippling losses to SVD and, to a lesser extent, RU, who was the 3rd person lost prior to Simons?

Btw, hope his absence isn't long term, he's an enjoyable player to watch.

DU, possibly could have been refering to Frank Wissler the point guard who hurt his achilles.
