There is some underclass post talent on this team. With the right coach and the right guard or two, this team could be a third place finisher in the Valley in 2 years or so. Then there is always the "rare gem" player that could immediately pull them out.

If I was SIU, I'd grab the HC from the best JC program with uncommitted sophomores and see if I could entice him and his team to Carbondale. That would get the team back to an RPI of 100-200 almost immediately, and if the pipeline drys up in two or three years, at least SIU would be in position to hire a coach that is worth something.
