The Gateway was a preeminent conference when NDSU and SDSU joined. The year before the Gateway had 2 of the top 3 ranked teams in the country. 2006 saw the Gateway winning a title. 2005 had a national runner up.

NDSU hasn't sent anymore players to the NFL than UNI, and UNI's players that go to the NFL actually make a name for themselves. David Johnson - best RB in the league. Austin Howard - starting OL for 8 years now. Xavier Williams - key rotation piece in Arizona's DL rotation. Deiondre Hall saw a ton of time as a rookie last season. Plus guys like Kurt Warner and Bryce Paup.

Being good at football won't help you here. It will likely hurt you. MVC schools care about dumping money into basketball. NDSU is a million short of the MVC average for basketball spending.

It's ---king ridiculous to think Bradley Drake or any other MVC program owes NDSU anything for beating sleepy Kansas and Minnesota in a football game or drawing Lee Corso to their campus as a novelty act.

Industry sources believe the pool of candidates the league will at least consider for expansion includes the likes of Belmont, Murray State, North Dakota State, Nebraska-Omaha, Northern Kentucky and Valparaiso.

Let's assume that anyone who joined this board could convince the rest of the board that a certain team that resides in the great white north would be a good fit for the open spot in the league.
Why would anyone believe that the support via concensus of this board means ANYTHING?

I've heard that the Dakotas have been kicked around but it seems like the league would have a hard time reaching a consensus on going up here. Which is hardly surprising, the administrators that have been up here would probably have a very different view than those that haven't.
