Their coach is known for having a team comprised of NBA draft picks that can score and score in bunches. The 2-3 zone is a cover-up IMO for not caring much about the defense. Any decent outside shooting teams can murder them in it. Boeheim is known for playing zone, but not being good at it.

I don't care if Syracuse is known for strong defense or not, we played like crap offensively. I'm not worried about our defense. We're still solid there, just need to have a couple guys decide they are going to step up and score. Koch could be that guy, but he was in foul trouble much of the game.

Is it me, or does Tim Higgins just call fouls because he's tired and needs a rest (too many fouls on both teams tonight)?

Tough night for UNI, offensively. Just can't toss up that many bricks and expect to beat anybody, much less the #10 team in the land.

Lack of size showed up for UNI in this one, IMO. The length of Syracuse bothered us all night, as we had no inside presence and struggled to even get the ball in the paint.

Good measuring stick game for our young team though.

Syracuse is a tough way to start your first game of the season. It'll get better Panthers, and heres to hoping that you guys kick a$$ the rest of the non conference slate.

That was a dissapointing outcome. It's always good to watch Boeheim endure a loss to your team. UNI is now 0-9 against Big East teams in its storied history.

For a team that was as fundamentally sound as UNI last year, the horrible FT shooting is quite surprising. That can't be attributed to 'Cuse's defense.

Couple things I came away with was how undersized that UNI looked compared to Syracuse and how poorly the shot from the outside (with open looks).

Tough loss. I was pulling for the Panthers. Seriously.
