Drake vs. St. John's

Postby Drake2010 » November 25th, 2010, 12:02 pm

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Well, Drake won last night and is playing St. John's Friday in the Great Alaska Shootout. I haven't watched St. John's, but a win against Steve Lavin and this Big East squad would be big for the entire Valley at this point. Hopefully the boys play hard and shoot well tomorrow.

LOL, I've been asking the same thing on Drakenation for the past 10-15 minutes. You'd think when a 23-17 deficit became 31-17 in about 30 seconds that he might call a timeout then.....didn't call one until it was 40-17, and it's 46-17 at half.

Folks on Drakenation are starting to talk about a coaching change being necessary.

The guy can recruit but he hasn't shown himself to be a bench coach. "Associate Head Coach" somewhere where he can recruit with a head guy who does x's and o's probably would be best.

You can say the same thing about Jim Les too.

I've never seen a Jim Les coached BU team look nearly as unprepared as Drake has against Iowa State and St John's.

Those are some big halftime deficits for the Bulldogs. How long is Phelps' contract?

It's never been made public, but I'd guess he has 1-2 years left after this one. The natives are very, very restless over at Drakenation.

Bulldogs have played 4 games this season. They lost tonight by 43, and it's not their worst loss of the season. That's just damn pathetic on a lot of levels.

Point guard play would be considered poor at the D-2 level. Unless that changes, it's going to be a long, long, long season in Des Moines.

Point guard certainly isn't the only problem, but it is so glaring that it can't go unmentioned.

Drake is a very young team, and they should be expected to take some lumps this year. But nobody should EVER lose by 40 points. And drake has done it twice already this year? That falls on the coaching staff. That just cannot happen.

:+1:

A lot of folks on Drakenation had said they wouldn't be critical of Phelps this year, because they were so young and there was a lot of young talent. But, after the Iowa State game, a lot of people said just what you said.

As two different posters on DN said tonight.....you can't give a guy a mulligan when he whiffs at the ball.
