WSUShox88..

I never said they might not reach that potential. Just found the topic interesting to single out a player who has never done anything yet (Shamet) and give him a thread. I guess predictions are fun, so no worries. Carry on.

I think McIntosh and McDuffie are going to have some fun battles the next few years. McIntosh is an absolute stud physically...

On a quick side note, Tony Wills is out 6-8 weeks. Sports Hernia surgery on Tuesday.

McIntosh still hasn't reached his ceiling. Not sure if McDuffie, Zach Brown, or Rashard Kelly will match up with him, but I look forward to it.

I really enjoyed watching McDuffie match up against Obie Church last year. They have similar size and both are very athletic. IMO Church has the edge in athletic ability and strength but McDuffie is MUCH more skilled. Should be a great matchup for the next few years. They don't play exactly the same position but they still ended up matched against each other fairly often last year.

College basketball: 32 bold predictions for 2016-17 season, Part I

4. Markis McDuffie emerges as a household name at Wichita State

Ron Baker and Fred Van Vleet are gone, but Wichita has Gregg Marshall and a talented young squad. The most exciting baby Shocker is McDuffie.

A 6-foot-8 sophomore wing, McDuffie is an excellent defensive chess piece that showed flashes of explosive offense last season. His ball-handling needs work; McDuffie had more turnovers than assists in 2015-16. But he’s a great athlete with a good feel for the game, and once his skill level catches up, he could become a star.

It will be interesting to see how Shox fans react when they are losing MVC games this year and don't win the Valley and are in the NIT just like they used to be. Hate to say it (not really) but your best days have come and gone. How much longer til Gregg wants to go too?

Credit to Stickboy for digging up the history. Here's what he found:

Shamet is the 4th Freshman to get 1st team honors (Doug McDermott, Cleo Littleton, Vernon Yates) and Shamet/McDuffie only the 2nd underclassman pair on the 1st team (Baker/Van Vleet). That's some good company for them.

I figured this thread would come in handy, but I saw no reason to revive it during the season. I knew it would resurface when the time was right.
