It's not a felony, nor a misdemeanor. Just a petty offense. I am sure that Dirty Dan isn't the only coach in America dealing with this kind of problem, I'm sure other teams have to deal with the same kind of crap, and we all know Dirty Dan isn't going to be the police on this one. Another thing is, what was Deontae's story? What if Deontae told Dan it wasn't a big deal and huge misunderstanding? He has to take his players word.

From the outside, I get that Deontae doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt, but if it isn't a felony or a misdemeanor, its not something you can suspend him for. Are you going to give him 2 games for a speeding ticket?

In all honesty I agree with Recon Redbird in the fact as a stand alone incident this is not much of an issue. Problem is that it is not a stand alone incident. I by no means expect anything to happen with this. As a matter of fact would anyone want anything to happen to their best player for that offense the week of the game for the title? The answer is NO. I do not agree with Muller on a lot of his discipline, but I would say this is the best time to handle this one "Internally."

So winning > morals .. .got it.

You guys are probably right, if Markis McDuffie gets a Jay Walk ticket the week of Arc Madness I am sure Mrr. Moralss Gregg Marshall would suspend him for the tournament. You know, Morals are more important than a victory.

The issue isn't this one instance of a misdemeanor it's the issue of repeated bad judgement and from the outside looking in it looks like Muller is not developing any personal growth among players... 3 players arrested right before the season. And Hawkins now another infraction in season involving a vehicle... just horrible horrible judgement.

It sucks because i'm sure there are smart kids who are going to do great things after playing at ISU. Paris Lee seems like a good guy and I've heard wonderful things about Tony Wills; they're affected by this two from the outside. It's selfish distractions that detract from the team which sucks for the rest.

Personally I have no patience for someone driving drunk. Had Frankamp or Hawkins hit/killed someone while driving intoxicated i highly doubt they'd ever see the court again. But they and everyone else around them got lucky... It's really not that hard to have someone else drive you home. I mean if you're absolutely in trouble i'm sure they could reach a coach if no friends are available. They'd rather take care of it internally than have something like that happen.

This is how you handle and mid season arrest with class and dignity. Especially when you are in the running for a conference championship. Yes 3 games in the middle of February for a misdemeanor OWI with the team looking at their first regular season MVC Championship.

Here's the thing though. We don't know. Because this hasn't been a constant problem at WSU, or for Mr. McDuffie. It has been for this player, and this coach, at ISU. You can conjecture this and that all you want, but it's just deflecting from the real-life, actual things happening at ISU, over, and over, and over. Even your comparison is terrible. It would be comparable if McDuffie had been court-ordered not to walk anywhere because he had previously recklessly walked places in a way that could have killed people.

At this point, it isn't even about a suspension for this incident. That's trivial. It's about the complete lack of accountability in that entire program.

Wait a second. Are we comparing a jay walking ticket by a player with no record or history of trouble-making at all to a player driving on a suspended license because of a DUI who has had a history of educational shortcomings and run-ins with law enforcement? Meanwhile the man in charge has handed down a total of a 1 game suspension through it all and trying to sweep it under the rug. And we're calling Marshall "moralless" for what reason exactly?

Wow, where do these people come from?  Amazingly embarrassing.

Gregg Marshall drives me endlessly crazy on the sidelines, but I have never once questioned how he runs his program and the standards that he expects guys to live up to. I would assume Shocker fans feel the same way about Ben Jacobson.

Muller, and quite frankly that entire athletic department, are seen as a joke when it comes to discipline and doing things the right way. That department has put winning above everything else. It's a shame that someone in the hierarchy of the university hasn't stood up and demanded that student athletes represent them better.

I think the big two (Football/Basketball) have shown a propensity of leniency that is very concerning. However, I know other programs within the athletic department (the less profile sports) have been very good without the problems. Volleyball, Soccer, Baseball to name a few.

Sounds like an individual sport coaches issue than. I would also put it on the AD as he is their boss.
