He didn't start at Evansville Sunday for the first time all year. Came off the bench to score 13 points (second only to Morgan's 16 for UNI). 6 of those came on 2 3-pointers in the last couple of minutes, but he had only made 3 all year to that point. We'll see if this jumpstarts him, he is expected to come off the bench again tonight. Only shooting 25% from the field on the year and 5-28 from 3. You could see his confidence in his shot had been totally gone during the MSU game, but he did look to shoot a few more times at UE and even went inside for shots as well, the pull up jumper has not been seen though-I expect to see that more if he gets his confidence back.

As of right now. I think Barnes has the nod over Kessinger for ISU-B. But with Bell quitting the team that gives Kessinger more minutes so only time will tell.

If Shamet is eligible, he has to be clear leader right now.

He's the 3rd best player on the best team.

So if Shamet isn't eligible, who is the frontrunner?

I haven't watched enough MVC teams to know all the freshmen, but I would guess the frontrunner is Darrel Brown.

That award almost always goes to the freshman who is relied upon the most by their team for points, which usually means a lower-tier team. That will keep Austin Reaves out of the running.

True although McDuffie won last year.

Last year was a pretty weak year for freshmen.

And McDuffie was a whale of a talent and a contributor.

Contributors seem to be:

Aaron Cook SIU

Brown, Bar, Kennel & Hodgson all for Bradley with Brown being the best of the group.

Skokna & Satterwhite for Loyola.

Smith and Eaves for Evansville.

Barnes and Kessinger for Indiana State.

Brown, McCloud and Haldeman for UNI.

Reaves for WSU.

Miss anyone?
