I agree with the post talking about comparing wins, it is a lot more fun than other schools in this conference get to usually do.

As for the 3-pt shooting, that is always going to be a weapon in Jake's gameplan. If you watched the game however, you would have seen that we went inside to Koch early and he scored 8 quick points. That opened up the outside and we started hitting from then on. We'll take the shots that are there. Ball movement was great yesterday and ASU's defense was not.

I'm just happy to be on the positive side of the bracket and get a shot at OU, whom we blew two chances to play last year and who WSU also plays. Not sure if even that will be a good comparison as WSU will be far more willing to get into an up and down game with OU than UNI will. And we know that WSU-UNI will simply be a slugfest of punches and conterpunches (figurative not literal Illinois State fans), personnel shifts and coaching strategy. Hope we both beat OU and then can settle it purely amongst ourselves three times this season.

We appreciate you pointing out that it will just be a figurative slugfest.

Isn't arguing semantics the exact thing that message boards were created for?

Loyola leading St. Joe's 16-15 at the under 12 TO in the 1st half of their opening game at the Paradise Jam.

Huge game for the Ramblers - winner faces the Ole Miss/ORU winner, with NC State and Creighton on the other side of the bracket.

Go LUC.

Yeah what the hell are we supposed to do if we can't argue semantics?

Then this board would just be jokes about Illinois State, arguments about Marty Simmons and discussions over the ever-strenuous relationship between sealed envelopes and Missouri St.
[Insert snappy comeback]

shockalot wrote:Whether AZ St. figures to be at the bottom of their conference or not, that is an excellent win for the Panthers and the Valley. Would love to see more MVC teams pull off such wins.

CDizzle said: "No. UNI is better than Arizona State in every way. They should expect to win that game. And they did. Arizona State is not a good team, so that is not an excellent win. Again, not taking anything away from UNI, they handled business. But there is no better way to validate the narrative that crappy 9th place teams in the Pac12 should get tourney bids than for the teams they are stealing those bids from to pretend like beating the crap out of them is a big deal."

It isn't validation dude, its about destroying the very perception of a low P5 team being more deserving than a winning MVC team. You validate the very reason I say it is a good win, not because AZ St. is a great or even particularly good team, but rather that the perception of most folks is that they are better than a UNI. The MVC will only change that bogus perception by getting games against P5 teams and beating them, ala WSU. UNI was the perceived underdog, not by me or UNI/MVC folks, but by most folk. The stinking fact that lower P5 teams do beat out more deserving MVC and other non P5 teams for tournament bids only gets changed by regularly and handily beating them. It was an excellent win because they stuffed them....
