The Evansville Sports Corp is the one hosting the tournament, they attempt to bring sporting events to the area, anywhere from youth soccer, baseball and softball tournaments to a Web.com tournament at Victoria National. They did not consult the University about bringing the tournament to town, then the University was asked about it, was there a connection to the OVC, etc and this statement was put out.
Just a little background to why the AD issued this statement.

Good move for them. Get North Dakota State in the phone. I hate them, but they've got cash and every desire to be competitive.

This is no big deal. An OVC caliber team has be calling the Ford Center home for 5 years.
Finally after 18 years, the people of Evansville will finally get to see a team win an NCAA bid.
After 10 years of the Marty offense, the fans will be shocked to see there are 3 point lines on both ends of the court.

Rambler fans, if memory serves, don't view Butler fans in that high regard. I've seen numerous unpleasant comments about them on the Loyola board in the past.
I think the main reason Evansville fan would want to make that trade is so they could have another easy bus trip so they can save money.
