three MVC teams have won over 100 games combined in the last 5 years. WSU, ISUr and UNI.

Here are the winning percentage of the others over the same 5 seasons:

EU: .564
ISUb: .516

SIU: .488
LU: .484
MSU: .447
BU: .340
DU: .340

That's a whole lot of meh!

Where did you get these numbers?

By my count, Loyola is 82-82 over the last five years. If you take away 7 non-D1 wins, the pct. is .478.

ESPN...and as stated they do not include Post Season games. Loyola was 77-82 by their criteria.

Not sure who EU is, but UE was 100-72 over that 5 year period for .581 percentage.

According to ESPN UE had 92 wins...but they don't count meaningless games in the CBI/CTI!

You should have named your source. I took my information straight out of the UE media guide. UE counts their year-end win/ losses the same as the other 351 D1 schools do. A win is a win.

Records against D1 opponents Last 5 years (warrenNolan):

WSU 148-29 (.836)
UNI 101-63 (.616)
ISUr 100-65 (.606)
UE 93-72 (.564)
ISUb 76-79 (.490)
SIU 75-83 (.475)
MSU 65-90 (.419)
BU 54-108 (.333)
DU 48-102 (.320)

LUC Last 4 years:
61-66 (.480)

There is 1 team that has any right to complain about anything, and I think that situation is resolving itself. If their were 3-4 teams with legitimate complaints, this wouldn't be a thing to begin with.

You are correct about WSU and others can be ticky-tack about the exact numbers but the fact is 6 MVC teams have a sub .500 record over that span. That is killer for the league as a whole and adding 8 more CBI wins by Evansville isn't going to alter that!

It's not CBI wins. It's non-D1 wins. My numbers include all games against D1 competition.

Thanks for clarification. Wasn't really looking for an argument on how many wins Evansville had anyways.
They were easily above the .500 line. The larger point was the long stretch of bad by half of the teams in a league which used to be really competitive. In the banner year of 2006 the Valley had five 20 win teams and Creighton had 19!

And ISUr's crappy 8-win team kept MSU from being a 5th bid.

Touche....

Didn't check but maybe it really was because the Bears lost to Murray State, TCU and Tulsa?

They lost at tourney team Arkansas by 4 in their only non-conference loss.

My recollection is that MSU got bounced in its first MVC tourney game, while Bradley made it to the championship. Despite MSU finishing ahead of Bradley in the regular season standings, the committee picked Bradley. Obviously Bradley vindicated that decision by reaching the Sweet 16, though the MVC really did deserve five teams that year. Can you imagine how much of a stroke Billy Packer would have had if FIVE MVC teams had made the tourney? And if I remember correctly, Packer later admitted that, despite his fierce criticism of the MVC getting four teams into the tournament, he hadn't watched a single MVC game all year.

Of course, my favorite Packer quote involved his criticism of the '79 Indiana State team being ranked #1: "Are you out of your mind? Name a player on that team."
