If you think Drake would be better off with a conference that includes the likes of Milwaukee, Valpo and Detroit why not simply join the Horizon League?

I only want the top 3, combined with the top one or two non-football playing schools from other midwest mid-majors, and whoever else want to hang around. There are enough basketball only mid-majors in the midwest to still make a good conference.

There is a real strong possibility that the MVC and MVFC factions will split up and you would have your choice of the non-football Midwest Mid-Majors.

Splitting isn't as easy as it sounds. One group would have to form a new conference. You aren't guaranteed an auto-bid when you do that. It took the Mountain West a couple of years and a compromise before they got an auto-bid to the NCAA tournament.

Thank you! I've been looking all over for this. I'm curious to do some trending.

That is true and the auto-bid is a must have so that's why I foresee a major shuffling of the conferences
with the MVFC essentially partnering with the Summit League, the Valley absorbing the best available Privates to become a Midwest copy of the Big East and the Horizon collecting what's left.

Midwest Big East may be a little ambitious, but maybe a midwest West Coast?
