MVFC schedules are set through 2019. It's why UND isn't joining the MVFC until 2020 even though they are joining The Summit in 2018

MURRAY could stay as a football only (2-3 yrs.) to "help" the OVC find time for a replacement. As a return for this "favor" they could get their exit fee substantially reduced and smooth things over with the OVC.

OTHER BENEFITS:

--gives MVFC time to line up schedules/divisions

--gives Murray time to improve football and f-ball budget

--saves them money in the short run by lower exit fee and cheaper OVC f-ball travel

--who knows? maybe after 3 years MVFC says no thanks and OVC is happy to keep
Murray as football only at that point(just a possibility that positions would change)

Murray State is would currently be the smallest FB budget by about 300K. The average MVFC football budget is 3.6M, if we take out the highest - NDSU at 4.6 and the lowest SDSU at 2.9 - the average is still 3.6m when rounded

I would also bet that SDSUs football budget is closer to 3.6-4M moving forward, but that only moves the average to 3.8. Realistically, with travel to the Dakota's the budget will move closer to 2.8. They really only need to add another 100-200K to the budget to "fit in" for the most part.

The reason the pipe dream of Valpo and Drake heading to the MVC to add it to the conference and go the route I proposed? Well...

NDSU 4.6M
ISUr 4.0m
YSU 3.9M
ISUb 3.8m
UNI 3.7M
MoSU 3.5M
USD 3.4M
WIU 3.2M
SIU 3.0M
SDSU 2.9M
MuSU 2.6M
VALPO 1.1M
Drake 1.01M

They would never want to operate in a scholarship league because of that. It would be great if they would, but they won't.

For reference, Georgetown (the only other non-scholly FB team in a scholarship conference still spends 1.8M

What the hell is Indiana State doing? How can you spend that much and be that bad? How embarrassing is that?

There's also no excuse for the facility they play football in...

When Andi Myers took over as AD in the 90s, her goal was to shutter the football program. They stopped doing any facility upgrades, they didn't allow for OoS recruiting and we didn't even have the full 63 scholarships reinstated until 2011.

2003 - $1,506,202 - 3-9
2004 - $1,694,795 - 4-7
2005 - $1,809,916 - 0-11
2006 - $1,736,243 - 1-10
2007 - $2,081,579 - 0-11
2008 - $2,033,169 - 0-12
2009 - $2,350,468 - 1-10
2010 - $2,649,218 - 6-5
2011 - $3,166,886 - 6-5
2012 - $2,859,361 - 7-4
2013 - $3,183,454 - 1-11
2014 - $3,432,997 - 8-6
2015 - $3,896,248 - 5-6

We've been a middle of the pack MVC team since putting money into the program when Trent Miles took over. They've done some mild facility upgrades since and we now have new lights so we'll actually be having the first night games in some time this year. That said, I have a feeling that when they started moving funding of football up over the last 2 years, they're basically putting it on a clock to either put up or shut up.

I've wondered that as well.

The first time I saw it went back and did redid the search function to make sure I didn't grab the wrong school.

3.8 million for the worst football program over the last 20 years. 1.8 million for a basketball program at a school that could have a good basketball fan base/program.

Whoa, I love that the local Terra Haute Ford dealer can put his 2 F 150's out there on the 40 yard lines. :Bam:

The MVC and MVFC are two separate entities. No the MVC and MVFC will NOT experiencing realignment.

Back to the Non-Football Conference talk folks. Give it a rest.

They are two separate entities...that share the same office and staff!

The question is not whether the MVC & MVFC will merge...it's when.
I am sure that within the due diligence on new additions this option
has been discussed.

Yes, they are two separate entities but they aren't at the same time.

The MVFC is ran by Patty V.

Here is Patty V's profile on mvc-sports.com - where she is second in command behind Doug Elgin http://www.mvc-sports.com/valleyinfo/di ... PezmvkrKCg

AAMOF, the first two paragraphs of Patty's MVC profile is this

Patty Viverito is in her 25th season as senior associate commissioner at the Missouri Valley Conference and is in her 32nd year directing the Missouri Valley Football Conference as its commissioner.

A Chicago native, Viverito was named the Missouri Valley Football’s first commissioner in September of 1985. She led the conference (then known as the Gateway Conference) to national prominence in the 1980s. The league, which sponsored nine women’s sports and FCS football, saw its women’s programs merge with their MVC men’s counterparts in 1992.

Patty is also the reason the conference tournament will never leave St Louis. Want to know why? Her husband is Mark Viverito. What's his job? Oh, he's only the President and Executive Director of the St. Louis Sports Commission.

Other MVFC staff
Mark Kern - 4th in command in the MVC
Greg Walter - 5th in command in the MVC
Maxine Day - main executive assistant for 19 seasons at both the MVC and MVFC

Noticing something here?

We can't talk about the stability of the MVC without talking the stability of the MVFC. Sorry, but that's reality
