And, since Creighton doesn't have a football team it relies solely upon men's basketball the money goes quick. Maybe, a few other sports are in the black revenue wise but barely.

Let's pretend Creighton has 10,000 season ticket holders - probably not out of the realm of possibility or even low. That is 2.25 million dollars from just season tickets.

Add in TV revenue, single game revenue, NCAA revenue, massive donations due to basketball, etc....

Travel might be some issue for non revenue sports, but it's easily off set.

Plus it's not like Dayton is actually that close to Omaha so they would only really save money
on trips to SLU. Creighton (and the rest of the Big East) couldn't care any less about SLU or Dayton.

wrong. it would decreas 3 other trips for just the mens basketball team to eastern schools since it would be a rotating schedule 3 home 3 away not round robin. that's just 1 sport. the money adds up fast when the revenue has to transport the tennis, swimming, wrestling, archery, rowing, etc etc etc crap sports to competetions half way across the country it goes fast, especially when youre paying a basketball coach million+

Numbers when it comes to that are very tricky. Many report making nothing to hide revenue to avoid different things that go with it.

I'm sure they're making money. I'm also sure they'd like to cut expenses.

Increase profits while decreasing costs? You don't say.

If they were interested in playing a subset of teams for the sole purpose of keeping expenses low......they would not have left the Valley.

Once you charter a plane, another half hour on the flight isn't really that expensive in the grand scheme.

take that x 3 for just mens basketball then factor in all the other sports too. Creighton doesn't make that much more than a valley team and that website proves it. look at texas a&m. their football is 43.4 million revenue. valley teams are all 0 profit in sports and so is Creighton. that means their sports revenue come from a percentage of student fees that goes towards athletics, licensing, sponsorships, and donors. how much do you think that really is? $10-million at most. Probably less. I don't get why its so hard to believe Creighton would like to cut costs across the board, not just travel to increase profits. Its not like theyre texas a&m who make 100-million in revenue per year. theyre a mid market school without a football team. im sure its more difficult than you realize. they have said the travel is tough. I bet they would welcome st. Louis and Dayton with open arms. you act like Creighton basketball makes $20-million and funnels it all back into mens basketball and that's just not how it works.

FYI, 2014-15 season. $290k additional travel expense. $3M additional ad revenue, not counting NCAA$$.
Profit will always show $0. Goes in general fund.
