I would assume this kid was a qualifier out of high school and is actually making progress towards a degree...

But he was originally signed to Wichita out of high school.

Matt is a WALK ON!

Hawkins was one of those "rabbit hole" situations that UNIFTW mentioned
similar to the McDermott's/Jacobson deal.

Hawkins has moved on...can Shocker fans move on?

You're acting like a child saying people can't join the MVC unless they have a rooting interest. Yet complain the MVC gets no attention.

What is this a third grade lunch table?

What a joke.

Did I ask you to leave? No. I asked Shocker fans to move on from the Hawkins thing.
Not sure what drove you to this petulant rant!

Well in that case, I can't wait to see him too, except when he's playing Bradley.

So I suppose if the MVC decided not to enforce its established and agreed-upon rules you'd be OK with that. You know, like teams not getting NCAA shares after they leave the league.

It's all fun and games while it is to the benefit of your school. Funny how the league seems to be OK with not following the rules so long as it benefits charity-cases and hurts teams like WSU and UNI that have proven they can do anything of substance.

In all honesty, Hawkins helped us get a regular season championship in his tenure, but that's it. No NCAAs and only bad publicity for the program with all of his legal troubles. I am sure his academics did not positively contribute to the team GPA either.

So, why are people butt hurt over a guy who, in the end, didn't get ISUr over the hump at all and really just gave the program a black eye from a perception standpoint?

I am sure after the initial anger of the situation (being cleared after one season to play), Gregg Marshall was not missing him at all over the past 3 seasons given their success they had (sans a bad image of Hawkins legal issues on his hands).

As for Chastain, I am sure the conversation went like this:

Chastain: I want to go to Illinois State. I made the wrong choice and am homesick
Muller: If you do, you'll have to sit out 2 years per league rules
Chastain: Any way around that?
Muller: Yes, come walk on for one year and recover from your injury fully and then we will scholarship you the following season
Chastain: Sounds good! I'm in.

Not sure what the MVC "did not enforce" in the Hawkins case.
The whole process followed the MVC's "agreed-upon rules" for Intra-Conference Transfers.

Suggest you read sections in the MVC Bylaws:

4.2.4: Waiver of Intra-Conference Transfer Rule
4.2.5: Waiver Procedure
4.2.6: Appeal Process and specifically 4.2.6.2 which states:
An appeal of the decision of the
AEC Committee shall be considered by the Joint Committee.
The decision of the Joint Committee shall be final.
