Good day to be a Valley fan. Few things pump my blood more than seeing an Arch Madness billboard on my Friday drive to St. Louis every March.

Hopefully the city of St. Louis held a gun to Elgin's head that if he extends the contract, Murray St must be added.

Should say:

Arch Madness to stay at Scottrade until Elgin gone

Are there links to the renovation of the arena anywhere?

I hope they at least pressure wash the place sometime.

Hopefully they turn the heat up a little bit too. It was really cold in there for the semifinals this year. The championship game was better, but it was still cold. But maybe I'm just used to watching games in the Hulman Center where they always crank up the heat.

The tournament should be very exciting and competitive this year and will be interesting to watch. Attendance should good for Friday for sure and probably Saturday too. The test may come on Sunday for the Championship. Without a Creighton or WSU, will attendance maintain on Sunday? SIU may be close enough to bring a Sunday crowd. I'm not sure past that. Maybe crowds will improve at all of the schools this year.

No idea how many valpo fans make the trip, but it seems like a safe assumption to say overall attendance will drop this year.

Probably, but as things clarify themselves over this and the next year or so, a couple other fan bases will become more prominent. WSU wasn't populating the tournament in the 90's and early 2000's , SIU and Creighton were the bell cows, UNI has been solid, and MSU had good attendance a number of years when they made the finals. Like SIU , we can have a good walkup crowd on the weekend if in contention. Bradley and ISUr have great potential to become more visible regularly and it will be interesting to see how Valpo settles in. But the point is regardless of which Universities, there will be a gradual movement that will correlate to which programs are the most competitive. Always has been and I doubt will change.

The average attendance last season was 9339 with 12,500 being the most for a single game last season. I imagine that will be more like 8,000 and 10500 for the near future. Nothing like promoting the league in a half empty stadium on CBS.
