I don't think the question is why does a random MVC fan fail to analyze this year's UE team, rather why does a coach entering his 11th season have his program in such sad shape that a random MVC fan doesn't have the desire to even analyze it?

I hate reading these posts and predictions, I really do..but what is incorrect? I sincerely hope I am wrong, but this shaping up to be a disaster. Again, is the problem the posters making the predictions, or the veteran coach not able to get any prediction more optimistic than a repeat of his 9th place finish?

1. To the first point you are correct. (See Pt. 3)
2. No, the question was addressed to the MVC fan and not about the coach.
3.I don't know what will happen on the court this season. I will remain optimistic. I do know that if there is a post from you about Evansville basketball, it will be critical of the Evansville coach, program, and the administration. Seen it here, seen it on PurpleAcesFans.

From a strictly predictions standpoint based on (in order of importance)

A) Returning Players (and their impact as returners from last year, not avg 1 ppg types)
B) Incoming Recruits
C) Point Guard Play
D) Coaching Acumen

Based on just predictions on the above standards in tiers...

Missouri State
Loyola
....
....
SIU
UNI
ISUr
Valpo
....
....
Indy St
Bradley
Drake
Evansville

This seems well reasoned and about as accurate s one could be at this point. I think nobody form any of those three groupings could move up or down a group though, and a couple probably will.

My tiers would be different:
(listed in order I believe they will finish)

Missouri State (should be able to overcome Lusk's shortcomings)
Illinois State
Southern Illinois (underrated)
Loyola (No faith in Porter Moser)

Northern Iowa
Bradley (will be better but a year away from taking that next step)
Valparaiso (lost their best player and coming to a new league. They will struggle.)

Drake (I think they made a good hire)
Indiana State
Evansville (just god awful)

While I believe the tiers are pretty much set the order within each tier is pretty much interchangeable.

No one, I mean no one, is fully grasping the Lusk Factor.

Talent wise, this should be a 25+ win team. They won't get to 20 again

Agree about SIU being underrated. If I had to bet, this would be my top four.

20 wins with this schedule and team should be pretty easy. Assuming Ronnie doesn't leave team again... Then again we do lose one of our best players every year it seems.

I don't know about that? We won 20 games with Lusk a few years ago even though we were only 500 in the valley.

I'm not defending his coaching but with our horribly weak out of conference schedule I think 20 wins are possible.

Makes sense to me, though I think Bradley will place higher than that. Wardle is a really good in-game coach. I suspect his team will win some games it probably shouldn't just because the players will be more disciplined than some of the other teams in the conference.

Something that really sticks in my mind occurred during last year's game between Bradley and the Redbirds in Normal. Knowing that there was a big talent disparity, Muller basically let the team play street ball. They were much less disciplined than they were at Bradley. Wardle was still coaching with a few seconds left in the game, even though the game was pretty much over at halftime. I think that commitment to detail will pay off for them this year, even though the team is still a bit light on talent.

Hell of a game that was. Bradley didn't score for like the first 10+ minutes and that was a free throw. They didn't hit their first field goal until there was about 5 minutes left in the first half.

Since you're so knowledgeable of my posts, you probably realize that I have posted on these forums since the Valley Board on AOL back in the 90's. You would also be aware that I have posted many supportive posts over the years. Of course, it was a hell of a lot easier to be positive when we were competing and drawing large crowds as we did for may years.

Sorry that it offends you, or causes your safe-space to feel icky that, as a long time fan, one who knows damn well what this program spent many years being capable of..that I am sickened and disgusted over how far it has fallen. I'm sorry that it doesn't bother you, that logical and balanced posters are nearly unanimously picking us to finish last..with a coach in his 11th season. Some are going as far to say that this may actually be one of the worst teams in all of D-1. The same veteran coach who pulled off a craptastic 9th place finish in his 10th season.

While I could go full rant on all of the reasons I am to the point I am, I have and will keep this strictly to the subject of this thread..Projected Finish. I explained my negative opinion in regards to this, how about you climb down from the Unicorn and give me just one good reason I should have an ounce of optimism for the coming season? You said you are optimistic, please, give me some of that purple sparkle fairy dust.
