The Hulman Center will be getting a $37.5M renovation after the 2017-18 basketball season. Construction is scheduled to last 26 months but we are told that ISU will still be able to have basketball, commencement, concerts, etc. during the construction phase (probably why it will be so long). All around more good news coming out of Terre Haute!

Do the Trees actually have the money this time, or will this be like the renovation that was announced in spring of 2015?

Kudos to the Sycamores for not letting this die. Great news.

The state of Indiana voted to give ISU the money. Construction will start once the basketball season is over in the Spring.

Just to clear some things up. The state is giving ISU $37.5M, The project will be around the $50M mark as ISU has some other avenues they are tapping into with the project.

How extensive are the renovations? That's a pretty good chunk of change to work with. Perhaps on par with the $25 mil WSU put into Koch arena 15 years ago?

It has to be replacing all existing wiring/plumbing/ etc. along with a face lift to the outside. 50 million is still quite a chunk for an existing structure. Any valley counterparts done something similar in the past 30 years?

Not quite sure what you are asking here, but 100% of the money is going towards renovating the Hulman Center. And for what it's worth the $25M you put into Koch 15 years ago is about $34M in today's money.

If you are asking what ISU plans to do with the renovation we can't give you a straight answer because no renderings or official statements have been released. But if I was a betting man, i'd bet that our NEEDS include: totally different outside/facade to the building, new heating & cooling systems, new lighting, installing new fiber optics for media/broadcasts/etc, and getting rid of the yellow seats! I'm sure there will be a lot more stuff but nothing has been officially stated.

I have read that they will reduce seating to around 9,000. Which could mean they’re going to put in some suites/box/loge seating.

I hope ISU fans are excited. $50M is A LOT of money to reno that building. Should be a state of the art facility when they’re done!

Does ISUb own the facility; if so, why isn't it on campus?
