KenPom Ratings 2018

The KenPom ratings for 2018 were just released. Here's where MVC schools ranked:

    87 - ISUr
    93 - Loyola
    99 - MoSt
    129 - UNI
    131 - Valpo
    133 - Bradley
    148 - SIU
    160 - Evansville
    203 - ISUb
    223 - Drake

Bradley had the biggest jump of 84 spots compared to the end of last season. I'm a bit surprised that we have 8 teams in the top 160. If this is any indication of how the season goes, we're in for some competitive basketball where most any team can win on a given night.

We are too high considering our injuries and Romine being away for personal reasons. I wonder if that takes injuries into account???

Compared to T-Rank

1. Loyola 77
2. Missouri St 90
3. Illinois St 104
4. Bradley 117
5. UNI 126
6. Valpo 127
7. Southern Ill 155
8. Evansville 172
9. Indiana St 189
10. Drake 207

Try and get 4 teams in top 100 and no teams over 200... That would be progress.

If i recall correctly KenPom takes last seasons performance into account and isn't truly representative of the 17-18 season until 6 or 7 game in. At least I think?

That would probably explain Illinois State being at the top (not that I think they can't contend this year).

Correct.

His model doesn't fully wash out last season until your 8th game against DI competition. KenPom, like most data based models, isn't really very reliable until January 1.

ISUr under Dan Muller isn't really very reliable until January 1 either!

You mean Bart Torvik's T-Ranks? I think you posted the composite T-Rank/Kenpom, meaning the T-rank combined with Kenpom. Here's the pure T-rank.

http://www.barttorvik.com/trankpure18.php

1. Loyola 64
2. Missouri St 82
3. Bradley 100
4. Illinois St 116
5. Valpo 119
6. UNI 122
7. Southern Ill 161
8. Indiana St 174
9. Evansville 183
10. Drake 191

Even more generous to the Valley and Bradley in particular.
