Just for rankers--Thik Bol for SIU will be out 2-3 more weeks--doesn't look good for one of top shot blockers last year--now Pippen is, so if we had him and Bol--well :Violin:

Anyway our 6-5 starting PG Marcus Bartley will probably return for the Wednesday game with SLU so that might help us bolster the backcourt

Bol should just sit out and get and play his senior season next year. They'd be my second pick next season behind another senior heavy team in isur.

Not all non-con games are equal, but here's how the MVC has fared in non-con games the past several years:

2017-18 48 - 22 0.6857
2016-17 59 - 53 0.5268
2015-16 58 - 58 0.5000
2014-15 63 - 48 0.5676
2013-14 64 - 49 0.5664
2012-13 75 - 45 0.6250
2011-12 71 - 44 0.6174
2010-11 68 - 48 0.5862
2009-10 79 - 35 0.6930

When Creighton left the league, they were buying a lot of games on their non-con schedule, so they loaded up on home games against mid-level competition. In Creighton's last year in the MVC, of their 12 non-con games 8 were home, 2 were neutral, and only 2 were on the road. That's the kind of scheduling power you have when you draw 15k+ every game. From 15-17 you had Drake and Bradley both going through coaching turnover and ensuing rebuilds. Now that the coaching issues have resolved and Loyola is the team the league thought it would become, the MVC is looking pretty good.

This is a vast oversimplification but...
The key is to win games versus good teams. Home games are easier than road games. So getting good home games and winnable road games helps.

Wow.... The A-10 is now under .500 in non-con games this season. 57-59 as of tonight...

Yikes. No wonder Wichita and Creighton left. Only 3 teams have SOS lower than 200. That means 7 teams fall into the bottom 3rd of D1 programs.

I guess the conference is fine being a single bid low major for the time being.

Loyola in as a 12 seed. Northern Iowa listed as the first team out.
