So far, the Valley's status in D1 is substantially better this year than it was last year, and the national press is taking notice.

Every team has improved except for ISUr (which was expected) and SIU. SIU is basically exactly the same as last year. Multiple schools have improved 50+ spots in KenPom. I admit that I thought the Valley would be pretty bad this year but I'm still not exactly sure what has created this giant step forward by the majority of the conference.

it sucks losing a nationally recognized powerhouse.
With that said, I'd rather have a strong league top to bottom where any team could conceivably knock off a P5 team (like it was a decade ago) than have a weaker conference with one powerhouse.
With what I've seen so far, (it's early, I know) it looks like we're heading in the right direction.

The Mid Major poll has a lot more confidence in Evansville than we do in the conference.

 30+ mid-major coaches or MVC fans? Not even close in my mind!

I have seen every MVC team play at least one game. I've seen every Aces game. I know what they can do, and what they can't do. The Aces, at this time, are not the third best team in the Valley, until they prove me wrong.

For all the grief (and rightfully so) directed toward the privates for not pulling their weight, they own the 4 best records in the league right now. And Drake has the same record as both ISUs.

not trying to start a Public vs Private war and sure as hell not defending my Sycamores (we are bottom of the league right now) but SOS has a LOT to do with Loyolas, Evansville, Bradleys, and Valpos record.

Just to further illustrate my point; According to Warrennolan the privates combined SOS average is 274 compared to the publics 131.
