Evansville will play @Illinois this year.

Indiana State's is almost done. It looks okay maybe a wee bit on the weaker side of things but there are definitely some nice games in there.

Three decent home games the challenge game and maybe Nevada. A bit disappointing given the expected quality of SIU's roster. This is my biggest problem with Barry Hinson he chronically underschedules. Hard to have sympathy for his lack of tournament appearances when this is what he puts together in a year the Salukis could realistically challenge for more than just the auto-bid.

Last 2 spots for SIU will be critical. One needs to be a buy game. The other if a mid major needs to be a minimum of WKU/MTSU caliber.

Oddly enough the buy game at some High P5 will be easier to get than the home and home with a great Mid--who wants to play a team with 5-6 starting level senior players even if they get the first shot at home? It's not as easy as it seems to some--wish we had a reduced form of the old "Bracket Busters" in which ESPN stepped up to schedule several games that highlighted top Mids.

That UMass game is critical. The only way that MTE does you any good is if you get Nevada.

Why not try to schedule with BYU or St. Mary's? The WCC went to a 16 game league schedule for this type of game supposedly.

Given SIU's precarious financial position, we need the buy game with a P5 over a winnable game against another solid mid-major. I hate having to even say it because I find no fun in those games, but that's the fiscal reality the program faces.

I'm saying we need both--but that getting the home and home with the quality mid may be harder

Most are happy with the schedule. You have to remember; we won't have Cooper Neese and Christian Williams during our non-con (both of whom many speculate will be starters or work their way into the starting rotation once eligibility starts).
