Way to go Ramblers! Enjoy this accomplishment, but don't let it become your whole season!

Great win for LOC!!!

A big key will be avoiding the above >150 losses the rest of the way including road losses to such in conference. We start with less opportunity for top 100 wins, so you have to avoid the negative losses or else they just point to those.

Teams win at large bids, not leagues. Who has a resume shaping up to get an at large? More importantly, who can avoid bad losses in league play?

If UNI wins 2 of their next 3 D1 games they will have the OOC resume, plus name, to be there for one.

Let's assume a loss to Xavier.

OOC record of 9-3 with an OOC SOS in the 20s
Wins over
SMU
NC State
UNLV
UT-Arlington
Iowa State

All of those will be top 50-100 wins
Losses
North Carolina
Villanova
Xavier

Only losses will be top 10-15 teams.

That OOC resume with, say a 14-4 or 13-5 conference record with splits with Valpo, MSU, LUC and ISUr will get them firmly on the bubble if they don't win in St Louis....assuming the losses aren't Indiana State, Drake, Evansville

Valpo 100% needs to win at least 2 of 3 against Ball State, Northwestern and Purdue - with one being Purdue. They can't afford more than 1 OOC loss with that SOS unless they run 15 or more conference wins with only losses to UNI, MSU or LUC.

Same story for LUC and MSU.

It's possible. Not entirely likely, but possible. Right now UNI is in the best position.

I think UNI is in play with a split of Xavier and N-Iowa St.

If they do that, they'll likely have a 2-3 record vs. Tier 1 teams, which is sufficient. (This is all assuming SMU crawls its way back to Tier 1-neutral). Lose both, and that 1-4 mark might, might be too marginal. UTA is likely going to end up being a Tier 2 game instead of Tier 1, and there's a real chance NCSU falls to Tier 3.

Then again, if you don't lose to Tier 2 and below, you're in good shape.

The one thing working in Valpo's favor is the road/home splits...a real chance to hang a very good road record up, which the committee gobbles up. Their problem is lack of Tier 1 chances. They really might want to split Purdue and Northwestern coming up to feel really good.

Missouri St will be teetering. I count 3 borderline Tier 1 wins (@WKU, N-SDSU, @NDSU). Those are going to end up right on the edge of being Tier 1 or Tier 2 (plus N-GSU has a chance of staying Tier 1).

UNI comes back late to win by 4 62-58. Klint Carlson led the way with 24 points, Spencer Haldeman with 10. Tywhon Pickford with 6 points and 7 boards. Wyatt Lohaus made his season debut and played 11 minutes, 2 points and 2 boards.

The exciting part for UNI fans is there are only 2 - granted they are important guys that play - seniors.

Our starting line up is

Sophomore
Freshman
Sophomore
Senior
Senior

Our main bench rotation is
Sophomore
Junior
Freshman

With a 4* recruit coming in next year.

So far I was dead wrong about the prospects of the UNI season (and I am very happy about that). I did not expect the progress of your Freshmen from last year, nor the incoming Freshman making that big of an impact like they all have. On paper, it looked bleak. Fortunately, they don't play games on paper.

Also, Carlson has become much more efficient on the offensive end than he was a year ago. Congrats to UNI.
