None and it's probably never going to happen. SLU claims they want the East Coast market for recruiting and is willing to pay the hefty expenses and disrupted class time for student athletes. It doesn't help that many fans/boosters have an undeserved arrogance when it comes to their program and that they see the MVC as a huge step below the A10. Majerus was actually a big proponent of SLU joining the MVC, but that never gained any traction.

It could happen. If the MVC decides to raid the A-10 and convinces Dayton, VCU, and Rhode Island then SLU will follow suit.

I don't see the school presidents or the MVC wanting to expand their footprint that far outside the Midwest. Elgin was on the Journal Star podcast this week talking about how we are a 4 state league as if it was a source of pride.

Maybe Dayton but definitely not VCU or Rhode Island. Or New Mexico St. Or GCU for that matter.

Doug Elgin has said some pretty questionable things regarding himself and the MVC. I don't think he will do anything to further the MVC during his tenure.

For those of you wanting Belmont, this is the type of coverage they get in Nashville...zip, nadda. They are in the OVC Championship Game tonight, and not a peep from their ESPN Radio affiliate, which is filled with local talk and tweets. Consider that their semi-final game was against Austin Peay, another D-1 program in their media market, and nothing regarding that as well.

I have seen tons of Murray fans around Evansville, yet to see one Belmont shirt. No thanks!

If the Valley doesn’t grab Murray State this year, all MVC administration and member university presidents should be fired and tarred and feathered. This is a no brainer, the likes of which rarely come around. To pass again would be beyond stupid.

Imagine the atmosphere at Scottrade with that fan block added. Not to mention that their program is very good. All positives, no negatives.

BUT, again... it means nothing to be the 8th rated conference if we get the same number of bids as the 32nd. Why try? Might as well be 32nd. If you tell me I don't have to go to college and get the same job with the same pay as a college graduate why would I go to college? Why be 8th when 32nd is the same damn thing?

Sorry, but youre in denial if you think Murray State and whoever is going to get a second bid. Therefore, do what ever it takes (legally) to get that second bid. If you have to pay universities to come and give them bigger cuts for 10 years then so be it.

Unfortunately this does appear to be the case. You could probably have a team comprised of ten NBA players play in some low major conference, go undefeated, have an average victory margin of 40 points a game, lose by one point in the conference championship and not make the NCAA tournament. The system has been carefully manipulated and fine tuned over the last 20 years until they have succeeded in creating a selection process that virtually eliminates multiple bids from all but 6 conferences.

But the idea is to make your conference as good as possible. The college athletics landscape will be different in five years, and in ten years, and in fifteen years. You want to deal with whatever those changes are from the strongest position possible. Strength gives you options, weakness leaves you totally at the mercy of others. Give yourself possibilities. That’s why adding a program like Murray should be a no-brainer.

Or, if you’re convinced that this is really all for naught, then our universities should save a ton of money and drop their budgets down to ISUB’s level. Because if it really doesn’t matter if your conference is ranked 8th or 32nd, then there is a whole lot of money being wasted.

Could the MVC be delaying Murray St so they would match up with UND in 2020 to the MVFC? Murray State has a problem with MVFC scheduling before then.

Think the other school that is a likely add is UALR. Either of them could get big exit fees by announcing so suddenly. If they give more time, the exit fees might go down.

There is nothing appealing about UALR.

Or a lot of schools they had mentioned looking into, but they did.

Outside of Murray State then next team will most likely be one of the below.

Green Bay
Milwaukee
Wright State
Oakland
Detroit
UIC
Belmont
NKU
Detroit

UMKC and Oral Roberts might be looked into, but wont be added.
