Whoa. The MWC adding Gonzaga BYU and possibly more would be a huge power move. It would also mean the MVC would need more firepower--and quickly. My hope is that this would wake schools from lower leagues up to realize that the only way to have a chance is to climb as high as you can. If Gonzaga can leave the WCC, any team can leave any conference.

If true, the WCC could add GCU start the chain reaction that kills the WAC.

The MWC has become a 1 bid leagues, two on good years. Just slightly better than the MVC. They are in a spot where they need to make big moves or be relegated to a one big league. I think they should go for the gold and add Gonzaga, St. Mary's, BYU, and GCU.

The MVC is already a one bid league. They need to go for the gold too. Murray State and NKU aren't it but could be two pieces. Do whatever it takes to get Dayton, St. Louis, NMSU, and GCU (if they don't go to the MWC). I do not give a goddamn what it means for travel costs. You want to become a two bid league again you have to make sacrifices. I also don't care if it means paying goddamn Dayton and SLU a certain amount for 5-10 years. Basically, buying them. Just get it done. This BS that we all keep going around and around on is not going to get us to where we want to be and if you think they are you are in denial.

Assuming the MWC doesn't want GCU too. On the plus side that would open up another at large spot. Interestingly, if the Horizon League adds Robert Morris which would likely move NJIT to the NEC, any move by the OVC to replace Murray State and\or Belmont could have a similar effect on the Atlantic Sun. I could see FGCU possibly entering talks with the Sun Belt or C-USA.

I just hope the MVC has finally proven itself attractive enough to schools like Belmont SLU and Dayton. Hopefully the great year we had had an effect and hopefully the addition of Murray State and NKU is enough to get these schools to change their positions. We need as many heavyweights and as much power as we can muster if we're going to counteract a huge MWC power move.

Also news of a “major” announcement by the Sun Belt. It’s probably nothing, but you never know.

Currently, Bruce Feldman’s twitter and the Sun Belt twitter feed.

Feldman is a football guy, but the Sun Belt Page has a gif of a test pattern with an espn logo inside a basketball

Again, it might all be nothing...

Did some digging on my own the most popular plausible suggestions are:

A new TV deal for basketball

The installation of a conference championship game for football

A current member school (UALR or UTA) adding football

Addition of a new school

No one knows anything of course but I suppose it could be any of these.

those are all highly plausible.
