10 Straight Opening Round wins for the Valley

So I saw the tweet yesterday about the Valley winning their last 10 games in the round of 64 dating back to 2012, and thought I'd verify that it was accurate. Proud to say the Valley has won 10 games in a row. The last loss was by Wichita in 2012 as a #5 seed to VCU. This game was on Thursday, and then Creighton won their game on Friday which makes it 10 in a row. Here are each of the teams that have won:

2018 - #11 Loyola beat #6 Miami. Will play Tennessee next

2017 - #7 Wichita beats #10 Dayton before losing to #2 Kentucky

2016 - #11 UNI beats #6 Texas on a half court buzzer beater, before having the epic Collapse against #3 Texas A&M

2016 - #11 Wichita beats Vanerbilt in the play in game. Then beats #6 Arizona before losing to #3 Miami

2015 - #5 UNI beats #12 Wyoming before falling to #4 Louisville

2015 - #7 Wichita beats #10 Indiana, then upsets #2 Kansas, before falling to #3 Notre Dame

2014 - #1 Wichita beats #16 Cal Poly before losing to #8 Kentucky. (Kentucky made it to National Title game)

2013 - #7 Creighton beat #10 Cincinnati before losing to #2 Duke

2013 - #9 Wichita beat #8 Pittsburgh, then #1 Gonzaga, then #13 LaSalle, then #2 Ohio State, finally falling to #1 Louisville in the final four. Of course, that Louisville title has since been taken away.

2012 - #8 Creighton beat #9 Alabama before falling to #1 North Carolina

And as mentioned above, the last loss in round of 64 was in 2012 as #5 Wichita lost to #12 VCU.

And in 2011 the MVC's auto-bid didn't stand a chance because the best TWO teams that season (Missouri State and WSU) didn't win the championship game, and instead a mediocre Indiana State represented the Valley, for which I'll never forgive them.
