Sounds like fans reporting other posters to university employers was just the beginning of the carnage in Carbondale. :duel:

We'll be alright--after Barry was re-affirmed for next year--major donors promised new funds---Not the smoothest moves for a team that has a good chance to win the MVC next year.

I like the sound of the apparent commitment to beefing up the schedule. Maybe they can use the influx of money to buy some quality home games. No more cupcakes in Carbondale.

Looks like Barry might be on a Lusk-like death march in 2018-2019. I like his team [ I picked them to win this year] and Barry is damn side better than Lusk, but he has always had trouble playing to expectations with his best teams. That AD statement didn't equivocate ; sounds like shat or vacate the throne.

True but to do it the way it was done is at most inept---tell him what you want in private

100 percent. Maybe SIU would be better off with a new coach, but why set your coach up like this? If you want to fire him, fire him. Bell looks like an amateur with this newsletter.

Let's assume Barry and the Dawgs go 24-5, win the regular season, advance to the Arch Madness final, lose in OT and get a No. 2 seed in the NIT with their RPI of 37.

According to this, Barry would be fired for winning the league and getting snubbed by the committee because they won't "hedge" or "equivocate" on their newsletter statement.

Then they roll the dice and hire Bryan Mullins. Is everyone happy then?

If Barry Hinson isn't experiencing deja vu, he might be suffering from early onset dementia.

This could be a valid scenario. I think many in the fanbase would be okay with this. They seem to really want Mullins. Hopefully a beefed up schedule and the respect gained by Loyola's run help propel them to the dance in that scenario.

Don't count on a 37 RPI making it still. Doubtful much changes until they get less P5 reps on the committee. Right now it is 6 to 4 ratio for P5 members vs non P5s.

Barry Hinson's 2005-06 MSU Bear's team was 20-8 with an RPI of 21 and an SOS of 46--beat University of Arkansas and Wisconsin-Milwaukee (both teams went to NCAA)

His 2006-07 team was 21-10 RPI 36 and SOS 46 , beat Wisconsin and lost to Oklahoma State by 3 pts in OT

But he still went to NIT and was fired i believe the next year--so sometimes whether you are retained or not is out of your hands
