Movement to ban ‘Crusaders’ falls just short.

Will the wave of SJW-ism hit Valpo next?

I always thought it was a little weird that religious institutions used the Crusaders as a basis for their athletics teams. That is not a proud history there.

I also think this will be met by more people complaining about PC-ness than people who originally had a gripe with the name.

I, personally, love the history of the Crusades and think it's an awesome team nickname.

There's been talk of it here or there, but I don't think there's been much support for changing Valpo's mascot.

Here's a fun bit of Valpo trivia for you. Our first mascot was the Uhlan, a type of light cavalry used in Europe, and in particular, Poland, Germany, and Austria. When WWII rolled around the school thought, hmm, maybe we should switch to a mascot not related to the German military. So in 1942 we became the Crusaders.
