sports betting case--with a mention of Bradley

Here's a piece about sports betting that could affect college basketball. Starts with a riff about Bradley. Interesting issue.

Some little known (or forgotten, or not widely publicised) history regarding Bradley and the point shaving scandals.

Nominally, Bradley withdrew from the Missouri Valley Conference citing public support for Drake after the Johnny Bright incident. However, the conference had voted Bradley out as a result of the scandal, and Bradley pre-empted that by making their move to withdraw in nominal support of Drake.

Just a decade later, Tim "The Rim" Robinson was involved in another point shaving scandal that hit college basketball in 1960. When discovered he was involved, Bradley quietly dismissed him, though citing other reasons (probably academics, but can't remember for certain). Robinson was also subsequently banned for life from the NBA, and he made a fruitless attempt to sue the NBA in the early 1970's as a result.

NBC Chicago did a piece on Tim Robinson. One of the best for the Harlem Globetrotters.
