Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders at Evansville (Sat, Dec 18th)

We have a rematch game on Saturday. MTSU seems to be more athletic than us and we need to do a better job rebounding, beating them to the ball, and withstanding their runs. I feel better about our post play and this should be a game we pull out.

MTSU last four games have been:

Tennessee, Loss: 86-56

SIU-Edwardsville, Win: 73-64

Belmont, Loss: 88-87

Furman , Loss: 76-61

This should be a good measuring stick for the Aces. After the first game in Murfeesboro, the Aces should bounce back for the victory. It's a shame I'm scheduled to work Saturday and won't be able to hear or see the game

From the MTSU site:

Blue Raiders Ready for Evansville

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After having the week off due to finals the Blue Raiders will be back in action this weekend as they face Evansville in Evansville, Ind., Saturday afternoon.

Middle Tennessee used its week without a game to prepare for the Purple Aces whom it defeated 82-70 prior to the Thanksgiving break. It is the second meeting between the two teams in school history after a tragic plane crash kept the two from meeting for over 30 years.

The Blue Raiders have struggled at times in their last three games including two which went into overtime.

During the span, there have been highlights by a few players at key times. Sophomore JT Sulton recorded the first double-double of his career against SIUE scoring 13 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Then against Belmont he scored a career high 19 points. In the last three games, Sulton has scored 48 points and grabbed 23 rebounds to average 16 and 7.7 respectively.

Also guiding the Blue Raiders in the last three games is r-sophomore Jason Jones as he is averaging 14 points per game.

Freshman Shawn Jones struggled against SIUE and Belmont but found his stride against Furman. S. Jones had 13 points and 10 rebounds against the Paladins for his first double-double and one of the best performances in the game. Eight of S. Jones’ 10 rebounds were on offense and he missed just one of six free throw opportunities in the game.

The Blue Raiders’ have already defeated Evansville this season and will be looking to use their confidence from that game to their advantage when they hit the floor on Saturday. The familiarity of an early-season opponent whom Middle Tennessee has already faced this season presents a unique opportunity at a non-conference sweep.

Tipoff at Roberts Stadium in Evansville, Ind., is set for 2:05 p.m. and Chip Walters will have the call on the Blue Raider Network. Visit goblueraiders.com for complete information on Saturday’s game.

MTSU could hold a clinic on how to perform a moving screen and not get caught.
