Off the wall, it won't happen due to no football scenario but what if Nevada and Fresno say 'no'...The eastern-most MWC schools go looking for better geographical fits. So Air Force, N Mexico, Colo St, Wyoming and TCU go looking in the Great Plains and find...CUSA schools on that conferences western front, Houston, Rice, Tulsa and UTEP.

Now, with only 9 schools with football, they also need to fill out the conference for other sports especially basketball so they go further north in the Great Plains and find...

Wichita State? Oral Roberts? Creighton? others?

More than likely they would prefer to stay with football schools so do they try to entice KU and KState?

Shake ups make the summer months interesting!!

On second thought... or is it third? Apparently BYU will go independent in football and join the WCC for hoops.

The WCC is starting to look stronger than the WAC...

I'm surprised the WAC hasn't been a little more urgent in trying to bring teams on board. I'm guessing they are trying their hardest to get D-1 Schools before going the 1-AA route, but if they do grab a couple of 1-AA schools, I still don't see how it survives.

If I am a 1-AA school looking to move up, I would tread carefully. They might find themselves right back where they started.

Didn't the NCAA put a moritorium on schools moving from FCS to FBS? Or has that expired?

I think they will make an exception.

If I am Utah St., I am doing everything I can to try and get into the MWC. I guess they were the first ones approached by the MWC to which they declined because they didn't think they could get out. The MWC then went after Fresno and Nevada. However, it would still make sense for the MWC to take on Utah St. for the tv market in Utah that will be lost once the Utes go to the Pac 10.

If this were to happen then the WAC will be completely sunk. That would then free up Louisiana Tech to join the CUSA. I am sure Hawaii would land on its feet somewhere as well as New Mexico St. San Jose St. would probably drop football to 1AA and join somewhere else. Not sure what Idaho would do.

This WAC commissioner is just making empty threats because he is trying to stay employed.

I read yesterday that the entire WCC conference has an enrollment of around 54K, while BYU has an enrollment of 34K.

Teams can and always could move from 1-AA to 1-A by joining a 1-A conference. However, 1-AA conferences can no longer move up to 1-A and an individual team cannot move up to 1-A as an independent. Therefore, BYU, as a 1-A independent, creates a hole in in the MWC which a 1-AA team will eventually fill. Who fills the spot and how is anyone's guess.
