End of Season Valley Ranking

On a good year, the MVC has been ranked the 8th best conference. On a bad year, the MVC has been rank about the 13th best conference. Normally, we're ranked, what, about 11th/10th?

With all the realignment that's happened, including our own league, where does the MVC end up being ranked?

vote and discuss.

Bart Torvik has the MVC projected as the 12th rated conference next season, being much closer to 13 than 11.

I did some math and calculated the average BARTHAG rating for each team in each conference and got the following table. IDK what the BARTHAG rating is but I assume it's something similar to what Kenpom's efficiency metric is.

1 B12 0.8755
2 SEC 0.8153
3 B10 0.8139
4 ACC 0.8057
5 BE 0.7845
6 P12 0.7604
7 Amer 0.7159
8 MWC 0.6986
9 WCC 0.6558
10 A10 0.6324
11 CUSA 0.5752
12 MVC 0.4941
13 BW 0.4786
14 Ivy 0.4643
15 WAC 0.4600
16 SC 0.4568
17 SB 0.4357
18 MAC 0.4096
19 ASun 0.3809
20 CAA 0.3776
21 BSky 0.3536
22 MAAC 0.3494
23 Sum 0.3219
24 BSth 0.3215
25 Pat 0.2854
26 Horz 0.2848
27 AE 0.2718
28 OVC 0.2341
29 Slnd 0.2296
30 NEC 0.2185
31 MEAC 0.2129
32 SWAC 0.1995

Narrowly 12th this year. CUSA is going to have one really good year before they get decimated with realignment.

I'd be careful with Torvik at this point. His formula has both UNI and Missouri State having historically bad years with Illinois State ranked about 100 spots above them. I'm all about analytics but there has to be some common sense somewhere. Anyone really believe that UNI will finish 261 or Missouri State 243?

I agree, this is just at least "something" though. Every league is likely to have teams like UNI or MSU that are also misplaced, but at least this is something to get in the ballpark of where we might expect to be.
