If Missouri State leaves, who do you add?

Discuss the MVC hoops season here.

Hypothetically, who would you replace MO State with?

If Missouri State leaves, who do you add?

Postby mvfcfan » September 25th, 2022, 3:32 pm

As of this posting the poll result is 26-3 that Missouri State would in fact leave if given the opportunity. So as a follow up, if they were to get an SBC invite, who would you like to see take Missouri State's spot?

Listed teams explanation:
I listed the 4 schools that the MVC kicked the tires on during this latest round of realignment. I also listed 5 schools with scholarship football, since we would be replacing a football school. I also put in an "Other" spot if you have a different school you'd like or if you'd prefer to just stay at 11.

Let's also hope the MVC doesn't have to make this decision. Hopefully the Bears will ultimately realize where home is and remain members for many years to come.

South Dakota State is the answer here. State flagship. Really good at men's and women's basketball. All around solid athletic department. The closest thing to a 1 for 1 replacement for the Bears we would have. I'd consider a 3 team add with North Dakota State and St Thomas to fill in the footprint and get to 14 (I really like St Thomas's upside plus they're private and add a market) but that would require NDSU to not be quite as football focused and to abandon whatever FBS dreams they may have. I'm not sure if they would do that because I think they will eventually decide they want FBS. I also am not sure if they would do as well in all sports at the MVC level as they do in the Summit League especially if they continue to focus as much on football as they do. Still they do offer a solid overall department and another state flagship and unlike the other two teams I mentioned they have an NCAA Tournament win. There's a lot to like in the Bison but the Jackrabbits would be #1 on the list. Chattanooga or any SOCON school probably isn't happening. I think those schools really like where they are.

I like the ideas of the bigger cities being added.

Northern Kentucky, Milwaukee and/or Bellarmine are my choices.

As long as we make sure the Indiana schools get another bus trip, it doesn't matter to me...

None of these schools offer football. I would give a hard no. Excellent if only adding basketball.

Well, we added Murray State's football so we will be fine.

I would add 3 schools again. I voted for Milwaukee, but I would add Kansas City and Omaha as well.
