Well Valpo finally did it. I can't believe it took them 3 weeks.

Congrats to Valpo on the much-needed clean slate to come. Hopefully the move/renewed energy around the program will provide some momentum to fundraise for needed facility improvements.

I’m stunned. I didn’t think it would take this long if that was the plan all along. I’m hoping the next move is hiring Greg Tonagel, but I’m not holding my breath.

Does Valpo still play in that old gym?

I bet it's difficult to get players to come play in a place that may be smaller and older than their high school facility. Good luck to their next coach though.

The ARC at VU is larger than their high school, but not by much as it’s only a 700 seat difference. That said, it’s not exactly fair to compare Indiana high school gyms to others around the country. Michigan City HS holds 7,300. The ARC is old, it’s outdated and needs replaced but I think there are more pressing issues.

Old outdated needs to be replaced…

The reality is that the gym doesn’t really matter. It’s about finishes and perception. It’s newer than Cameron Indoor, which some consider one of the best gyms in the country. It’s smaller but newer than University of Dayton Arena.

What is missing is the atmosphere that comes from winning or at least being competitive.

A couple of early names at Valparaiso: Iowa State assistant JR Blount and Marquette assistant DeAndre Haynes.
That's according to ESPN. Any thoughts on those two?

That's the wrong Iowa State assistant to target but I'm guessing that job wouldn't be one he'd even look at.

Blount runs Iowa State's offense. Lots of charisma. Recruits the south for them. Not sure he's truly ready to be an HC yet but could be very good if willing to be patient.

Norlander's article mentions Valparaiso was waiting for Lottich's buyout to drop, so they weren't asleep at the wheel like many of us originally thought.

Valpo board thinks they're hiring Lowery. Looks like they'll get a new donor in Dean.
