Not a bad draw for Drake. Miami is 12th in offensive efficiency but 132 in defensive efficiency. Wish they got someone worse than Indiana for a potential 2nd game.

Interesting matchup. Just glanced at Miami's schedule and noticed that they played a lot of close games.

Of their 25 wins, Miami won seven games by four or fewer points and lost four games by the same margin.

They played 21 games where the difference was 10 points or less and had an overall scoring margin of +7.3. To Miami's credit, they won most of the close games, but if you drop out their nonconference cup cake games against Lafayette (+13), UNCG (+14), Florida A&M (+26), St. Francis Brooklyn (+23) and St. Francis PA (+15) - it's basically an even point spread.

I think Drake has a shot here.

Plus Jim Larranaga is a class-A prick, so dumping his ass in the first round wouldn't bring a tear to my eye.

Miami is beatable, Kent St should give Indiana all kinds of trouble, and Houston has to go through Auburn in Birmingham in Round 2.

That bracket is ripe to break wide open if Drake brings their A-game.

Good things could happen with a route like this.

Anxiously waiting for the NIT matchings also. Is Tahvanainen back on the court?

So Albany’s 2nd and 3rd games tip at 3:30 & 6:25. Even if the afternoon session miraculously ended on time at 5:30 (it never does), that would only leave 55 minutes between sessions. Venues typically need 90 minutes to clear and reset. There’s a nonzero chance the afternoon session is still playing when the night session (Drake’s game) is supposed to tip. That will cause havoc for people attending Albany.

All this to say, no way Drake actually tips at 6:25.

There's a site that gets screwed like that every year. Happened the first time Des Moines had the tournament. They don't hold the games because TV rules. We didn't get into the building between sessions until after the third game had already started and missed like the first 8 minutes.

Totally unfair to the fans and teams.

Yeah, especially with the narrow, congested concourses at Des Moines. I remember the bottlenecks from when Bradley played there in 2019.
